Ford F250 Super duty V10 AC stopped working and now I hear a noise when I turn fan on

The a/c noise is either the clutch going bad and slipping which is very common on the V10. When its slips its not pumping, a clutch kit can be bought at any parts house for around $45-$50.00. About 30 minutes to put on. The other is a pump bearing going bad, which isn't a quick fix and needs the whole pump replaced, if that's the case always replace a new dryer when replacing the pump,, I would put money on the clutch...

I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. Yesterday the serpentine belt broke and I replaced it. My car was looked at by two men who know a good deal about cars. They both said the reason the belt broke was because...

AC PULLEY AND BEARING CAN BE REPLACED.YOU WILL NEED AC COMPRESSOR TOOLS LIKE SEAL TOOL AND PULLEY BEARING TOOL THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM HAS TO BE DISCHARGED TO FIX AC COMPRESSOR PULLEY AND BEARING. YOUR AC COMPRESSOR PULLEY HAS A NUT AND SNAP RING HOLD IT IN PLACE.GO TO DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE AC PULLEY NUT AND SNAP RING.SOME TIME YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW AC PULLEY BEARING AND SEAL TO GET A NEW NUT AND SNAP RING.AUTO ZONE HAS AC TOOL YOU CAN RENT TO FIX AC BUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND GET AC SYSTEM DISCHARGED FIRST BEFORE YOU CAN WORK ON AC COMPRESSOR.

Serpentine belt slides over AC pulley when AC is off

The ac pump has a clutch coil,it is activated with the ac button, and then the middle of the pulley will turn this is the clutch,it only turns with the ac on,then when it is turned off,the pulley just turns not the whole clutch,so this is normal.

My 93 buick regal custom 3.8l has a bad ac pump and makes an aweful noise when running. The ac doesnt work and the 'clutch' on the pump spins freely, is this an easy fix or do i need a new ac pump?

you would need a new a/c pump, however you you didnt want to replace it and could live with out the a/c, a cheaper option is to replace the belt and bypass the a/c. Most auto parts store will sell you a belt of the correct dimensions if you tell them you wish to bypass the a/c. I've done this for many customers. It can be done on just about any motor.

Best of Luck.....
