I know electrical problems are probably the most frustrating things to go wrong. First I would like you to get your alternator and auxillary power generator checked. Autozone and similar can scan it. My alternator had us doing 55mph at a stop and running up miles too!

The generator can put out "dirty" power that is incompatible with delicate electronics.

There may be a speed sensor in the differential. I know some have them there. If not, I am sorry to say your computer may be bad. There are aftermarket devices for adjusting the speedometer for different size wheels and tires. This is done with computer reprogramming. Your vehicle should not have lost its settings on its own. If something is interferring with the readings it is possible to remove that device and your computer may recover.

Your leveler alert horn may be out of adjustment. Test the leads of horn before scrapping it. It may still honk.

If you recently plugged into a trailer park before this came about, you should have some warning panel to test crossed wires. If this is electrical damage due to casualty you may have homeowners coverage. Good Luck

Why does't my horn work?

  1. Check for +12v at the relay output when the horn button is pressed.
  2. If no voltage at the output when the horn button is pressed, check for voltage at the input.
  3. If no voltage at the input, check the fuse.
  4. If there is voltage at the output, check the chassis ground for the horn and, if chassis ground is good, replace the horn itself.

I have 2004 Honda Odessey, horn would not work , checked horn relay and fuze still nothing . What can I do?

Have you checked the ground connection to the horn? Remove the bolt holding the horn to the chassis and try using a piece of sandpaper on the metal support bracket holding the horn to the chassis as well as the chassis itself. Since you have already checked the fuse and the horn relay it is either a poor ground or the horn itself is defective.

Good luck,

Marty

I have an 86 CJ7 and recently transplanted another motor in it. The harness stayed intact and was just disconnected from the firewall fuse box to dseparate the motor harness from the chassis harness. I put...

Hi, the harness is not reconnected properly to the fuse box. You have crossed the relay circuits. Look at where the horn and headlamp relays are on the box, and remove the connector under that spot. Maybe it needs to rotate 180 degrees.

Speedodometer stays on 20mph when not moving

this is in the speedometer unit itself. either purchase a known good part from an auto recycler or people still rebuild these. on these, they are individual little motors inside and they will probably just replace the speedo motor and reseal it. unfortunately you can not purchase these parts yourself.

96 Accord VSS or Speedometer Head?

The "needle at 20MPH" is a sure-fire indicator -- it's the speedometer head. This is a common problem in this year.

I haven't found a fix other than replacing the speedometer head, sorry.

My speedometer is stuck

Typically on a Yukon instrument cluster this is caused by failing stepper motors on the cluster's circuit board, it can be fixed though. Check out this page for more about Yukon speedometer problems and how to get it fixed - Yukon speedometer fix
