Should be like a 3/8 allen wrench but if it is a torx should be a t45-t50

When changing out brake pads on my 99* silverado 1500 two wheel, Do i need to renove both the torx bolts and or the regular head shaped bolts to remove the old pads? I have not had sucess loosening the...

Normally it is just the Torx head bolts that need to be removed in order to replace the pads, but I have seen them so badly rusted that I have had to torch them out, and replace with new Torx slider pins and caliper bushings. The cause is lack of service. Those pins need to be removed periodically to be cleaned, re-lubricated, and re-installed to prevent seizing.

Torques bit size for the brake on 2001 silverado

I believe that is a T-60 torx bit. Those bolts will be very tight, so buy a good socket and save your nuckle skin.

What tools do i need and how to replace front breaks

Sockets of different sizes and possible US and metric sizes, misght even need a Torx to remove the screws ( not sure what Volvo uses),
C-clamp, bigger screwdriver,
and new pads, and disk brakes grease to keep them quite.(auto store guys will know what this is)

Torx bit size

I would check with my local parts house, I think you will find that there is a tool especially made just for the brakes on that vehicle. It is not uncommon for all makes to have a special size just for changing brakes on their vehicles. I know some Fords have it, you should see the one for a 1993 Cadillac Seville, looks like a small box. Doesn't make sense but it sells a lot of tools. It's probably a 52-53 or something like that and of course only useful for the brakes on that particular model. Hope this helps.

Brake caliper removal

Sometimes they use a T-50 torx bit, and sometimes they use either a 15mm or 18mm bolt, however the caliper bracket is a 21mm bolt
