Hi,

Your ABS light is not directly related to your engine and would not cause your vehicle to shut down. Therefore, we need to have the Diagnostic Codes extracted from your vehicle's computer, before we can examine likely causes.

Assuming you cannot extract codes from the DTC connector, I can offer a different method which applies to some late model Nissans...

ACCELERATOR PEDAL METHOD (read carefully):

1 Switch the ignition ON (but DO NOT start the engine). 2 Wait 3 seconds. 3 Within the next 5 seconds, "fully depress - then fully release the accelerator pedal" 5 times (i.e. once per second). 4 Wait 7 seconds. 5 Fully depress the accelerator pedal...and hold it down for approximately 10 seconds. 6 The "ENGINE CHECK" Light should begin flashing. Fully release the accelerator pedal. 7 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below. Code Format Description - the fault code will be in one of the following Code Formats below: The code is made up of four groups of flashes each representing a digit. A long flash indicates the 'thousands' digit. 'Hundreds' 'Tens' and 'Ones' are groups of short flashes respectively. A long pause separates each trouble code. A shorter pause separates each group of flashes Please note: A '0' digit is indicated by 10 flashes with this system.
Or... Each code is made up of two series of flashes. The long flashes indicate the 'hundreds' digit, however can be a value up to 13 (eg 13 flashes = Thirteen Hundred). The short flashes indicate the 'ones' digit, however can a value up to 15. A long pause separates each code sequence. Once you obtain the codes (or have someone do it for you) from your ENGINE CHECK LIGHT, post the codes here are someone can assist you further. PS: Your first priority is to get the vehicle mobile again. We can then deal with the ABS issue separately. Cheers,

Abs light on

Most cars light up brake when low on brake fluid, a few cars light up ABS to show same thing. You need to scan the abs computer and get the codes, these codes will tell you whats not working then you check it out, it may be a bad wheel sensor or may just be low brake fluid but you wont be able to just shut it off. Once the problem is fixed all you have to do is drive the car down the road and the light will shut off when the computer sees everything is working correctly. Of course there is the possibility that there really is something wrong with the ABS circuit.

Abs light wont go out

When u power up the vehicle ABS does a self test(light stays on a few seconds then cuts off) and if it see's a problem will shut off and illuminate the ABS lamp. It will also do a second test on iself when you reach a speed of around 12-15 mph,it will run the pump for a few seconds to check pressure and look at the speed sensors,if it see a problem here it will again shut down and illuminate the ABS light.
Now if the red brake lamp is on then it will shut down because it thinks you have a hydraulic concern and will not try and run ABS if this is the case.
If red brake lamp is on most likely if you have good brakes it is a problem with the float sensor in the master cylinder reservior, maybe its bad or just stuck,or just low on fluid.

ABS Pump wont shut off

go to www.modulemasters.com

The dealer will charge you $1300 - $2000. Contact Module Masters. They are great to deal with. You have to ship it to Moscow, Idaho. It cost me about $15 to ship it (with box, packing, and insurance at a UPS store). They charged me $130 to rebuild it and gave me a 5 year warranty. It cost $8 to ship it back. To in total, it cost me $153....totally turn-key.
