Sounds to me that when you put your engine back together you didn't set your timing belt correctly. I think you may have to go back to that point. Good Luck Friend.

SOURCE: Blown Head gasket/Affordable repair?

The average sale price for a 91 Lexus in the US, is $3900.00. Used radiator would be around $200.00. Machine shop to machine the head (highly recommended) $500.00 to $1000.00. Gaskets and hoses another $200.00. I don’t know how much you have into it, but I hope this helps your decision.

SOURCE: blown head gasket how much to repair?

You may be better replacing the whole engine with a rebuilt. It's going to cost close to $1000.00 to repair and you can buy a rebuilt for just $1700.00 and you know the engine is fresh. With a blown head gasket you have the fear of antifreeze contamination in your engine oil. The antifreeze is corrosive to the crankshaft bearings and you may be looking at bearing replacement also. If the body is good, you can always try to find another 1997 cavalier with less miles and swap out the engine. Seen most cavalier around that year for sale starting at $500.00 and another $300.00 for labor to do the swap. Good luck and sorry about the bad news. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

SOURCE: Engine Problems

There is no 3c engine in a Toyota Supra. If you have a 1995 it would have a 1JZ-GE, 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GE, or 2JZ-GTE if you can tell me which engine you have I can further assist you.

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.

SOURCE: WHAT IS THE COST OF REPAIR ON A HEAD GASKET FOR A

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you.

More often than not, head gasket failures will result in an immediate overheat condition, and you will see billowing clouds of white smoke coming from the tailpipe.

To answer your question, the time to replace both head gaskets is about 10-12 hrs, at your local labour rate. My service department would charge 900 dollars labour. Then, figure about an additional 3-400 dollars in a gasket set, oil, filter, coolant and any machine-shop work that would be needed to true the cylinder head mating surfaces.

Before you do any of that...

Personally, I would suggest that you inspect the water pump on your vehicle. This is where you are most likely going to find you leak. 4Runner V-6s are known for the impeller shaft seal on the water pump to leak. To see/inspect the water pump, you will have to remove all of the plastic covers that are fitted to the front of the engine. Once they are all removed, you will see the water pump in the center of the cylinder block. If you see any evidence of pink or white crusty materials on or under the pump, you have found your problem...and, it is MUCH cheaper to change the pump, as opposed to doing the head gaskets.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance today.

The head gaskets blow out due to the head bolts pulling out of the block resulting in stripped threads on most of the holes in the block, there is no recall even though this is a known problem, Toyota did fix some of them under the normal power train warranty of 5 years/60,000 miles. There are several videos and instructions on how some people fixed this problem without replacing the engine block. In any case it's a very expensive repair,.
