TPS, 3 wires gray wire 5 vots with key on, black wire sensor ground, dark blue wire is the sensor output to the ECM and will be betwine 0.5 and 0.7 volts at idle as you open the throttle the voltage will increase to betwine 4.5 and 5 volts.

1991 Corsica with 3.1 wil not start has spark

Is this 40lbs. at the pump or after the fuel filter? If at the pump, the fuel filter may be blocked. Change it if necessary. Good luck!

1991 corsica needs a new exhaust system is this expensive to replace?

If you can go to advance auto, or yor local parts store or ebay for parts and do this yourself you can save a lot of money. Or if you know someone that will do the work on the side that is a machanic and you buy the parts that would be a second option to save you money.

Sounds like a faulty sensor. Have you changed your fuel filter? Checked all vacuum lines? Any check engine light on?

1991 Corsica dies after being put in gear.

Hi

You need to get two things checked. Ignition and Fuel.

Ignition: typically in this order ... Start off from sparking plugs ,,, move to leads (get them changed) and on to the ignition coil if there is no spark coming out of it. In case of fuel, the carb needs a clean and a good carb cleaner or fuel treatment (added to the fuel tank) wont do any harm. You should open up the carb filter. Remove it and change it if its dirty. Start the engine rev it up and while its revved up (throttle flap open) spray the carb cleaner or in this will clean the carb cleaner from inside. If the power gradually increases its a clear sign that you need to open up the carb and get the jets cleaned. properly.

Hope that this fixya will get you on the roads soon :)

Regards :)

Car wont' start

I don't have a Corsica, I have a 2003 Suburban but I have a similar problem. Every few months or if the car has been sitting for 12 hours and the fuel guage reads less than 1/2 the car will crank and start for a couple of seconds and then die. You can keep trying but it will not run for more than a second or two. If one hits the gas tank bottom then it will start okay. At other times the car will lose power and the engine will struggle to stay running. If that happens you have to turn off the engine and then hit the tank.

We tried replacing the fuel filter to no avail and other fixes would cost a lot more so I live with it and keep the tank at least half full.

One mechanic thought that something in the tank may be coating the fuel screen and the engine had to be shut off to release it. Our other guess is that a fuel line pressure regulator check valve gets stuck and banging the tank breaks it loose.

If your problem is similar then towing the car might have the same effect as hitting the tank. When you drive the car keep an eye on the fuel gauge. My Suburban's changes readings at times. It's possible that your car thinks it's out of fuel and shuts off the pump to protect it. If your engine dies and you are coasting and you can do so safely, hit the brakes hard. That may shake things enough to help.

I've been told I have a fuel pump going bad and that banging it is only a short reprieve but it's done this for 3 years now so I doubt it.
