I just had this same problem with a '96 . do you have a vats key in your '94? you need to bypass the VATS system. read some of the blogs on this site and it will tell you how to do it. I fixed mine with a $2 resistor from radio shack.

SOURCE: factory alarm 97 grand prix

1st the system alarm is intagrated into the engine control electronics, it can not be disabled without poss damage to ther systems and controls, 2nd the most common cause of your issue is the sensor in the ignition lock cylinder being defective, this is the most common issue on all GM anti-theft systems.

Replaced Problem Solved. What Is Happening Is Your Key Has A Chip And That Chip Is A Resister And When The Valve Is Not Sented To The Computer It Disengages the Fuel Pump And Than Tells You To Wait. Soon All That Will Happen Is You Will Get The Wait 3 Mins And It Will Never Start, A Good Locksmith Can Take Care Of This For You And That Will Save You Some Money. Cause If You Go To The Dealer Ouch They Will Hit You Up. But I Asure This Is How It Will Happen Cause It Is How It Happen To Me

SOURCE: cannot disable anti theft alarm driving neighbours mad

There should be a relay under the hood for the security system, if you can not find it, try jacking the front of the car up, it should have a sensor that tells it that it is being towed and should turn off, unless of course it has a bad wire that is grounding out.

1998 Ford Explorer. How do I disable the security system? The ignition was changed and now in theft mode I'm told. Could be wrong I don't know?

You can't disable it. It is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do, drive the car without the correct credentials. The antitheft system involves the key, the transponder, the anti-theft module, the BCM and the ECM all working together to stop people stealing your vehicle. It just need resetting.
  1. Insert the key into the driver's side door lock.
  2. Turn the key once, but not all the way to unlock the door. Leave the key in this position for 40-60 seconds. ...
  3. Do this again, but turn the key in the opposite direction.
  4. Remove the key from the door, get into your Ford, and start the engine. The system should be reset.

02 olds alero no start system shut down

Where did you try to by-pass at , with the 2000 ohm resistor ? Is the SECURITY light lit on the instrument cluster ? Probably has another problem other then the key . The anti-theft system in your vehicle can not be by-passed by using a resistor .

The Passlockâ„¢ System is provided in order to prevent vehicle theft if the ignition lock cylinder is forced to rotate or the ignition switch is operated while separated from the ignition lock cylinder case. If starting is attempted without authorization from the Passlockâ„¢ System, the powertrain control module (PCM) will disable engine starting. Start disable may be in the form of fuel disable or starter disable, depending on engine application.

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Before you render it unfixable . (cost to much )

2000 grand am security light comes on can i bypass that with remote start

Are you the one who bought the vehicle new ? Replaced ignition switch or the ignition lock cylinder ? No , sorry, but a remote start will not by pass anti-theft system .

The vehicle theft deterrent system is designed in order to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the fuel injectors unless the lock cylinder is correctly engaged by a mechanical key. The theft deterrent system uses the following 4 components for theft prevention:
• The lock cylinder
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
When starting the engine, the PCM searches for a password from the BCM through the Class 2 serial data circuit. If the password is not recognized or not present, the PCM will disable the engine. Two modes of tamper detection are provided:
No password received
The engine will start and stall quickly. SECURITY telltale will flash on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and then stay ON steady.
Incorrect or disable password received (More than 3 invalid passwords are received)
The engine is disabled for at least 10 minutes and the SECURITY telltale will illuminate solid on the IPC during the 10 minutes.
After the vehicle has passed theft detection, the PCM will continue normal operation.

99 explorer alarm disables. Motor dies

Anti-theft system can keep vehicle from starting , Alarm is for vehicle content theft , open door without key alarm sounds (horns) ! PATS - passive anti theft system PATS enables and disables the engine from starting ,it will not cause the engine to die ! You have some other kind of problem ! If the vehicle engine doesn't turn over an red light on top of dash flashes fast ,then you have anti-theft system problem !
PATS differs from the perimeter anti-theft system in that PATS enables and disables the engine from starting. If equipped, the perimeter anti-theft system protects the perimeter of the vehicle (doors, hood and trunk) and sounds an alarm.

I accidentaly broke my key for my 2000 Ford Explorer, and I changed out the ignition and collumn the car turns over but it wont start. But my anti theft is activated .How do I disable or turn off the an

The old key may have an induction chip in to deactivate the anti theft system. Does it have a red insert (chip) in the key handle? Get the old key and place it as close to the ignition barrel as possible. Seen this done on a number of occasions to save paying for a key reprogram.

Try re-setting the computer...Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and leave off for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset. The charger may have interupted the signal or something.

Anti theft system on my 2000 malibu goes off when driving

Its your ignition switch. Its not recognizing when you turn it to the start position. The little terminals inside the switch get burned and wear down. When mine went out, the whole power to the dash would flicker, even cut out when driving. I actually wired my system to 1 toggle switch for on and off, I kept the anti theft wires attached to the switch. I also have a starter switch, if I fail to turn the key like I'm trying to start the car, the theft light comes on and the car dies right after starting.
