Question about 2004 Ford Freestar

Electric door unlock does not work on one door This is the left rear door and it does not work with either remote or button on driver's door

Could be 1 of 3 different things. #1 the electronic solenoid that controls the lock mecinism has failed. check by feeling/hearing a click in the door when you try to lock/unlock. if you hear the click from that door it means that the linkage is broke or has come apart. If no click it is the solenoid or loose/broken wire. Chances are if it is a broken wire it will be in the plastic tube that runs from the frame into the door.

Inside each door of your car is a motor, which controls the locking mechanism, chances are its broke somehow, they're mainly plastic on fords and arent that good. change it and it should start to work again. failing that theres something wrong with the lock motors wiring. an auto electrician will fix it 10 mins.

    This model does not have motorized door openers so this was not the problem.
    In my car it was because the device that protects from this door knocking off the gas cap
    was broken inside the gas door and was telling the car door that the gas door was open.

2002 Cadi Deville, can't get any locks to operate with remote or dash push buttons, the remote operates everthing but the locks! When the remote door lock is pressed, lites flash,horn blows locks not.


Power Door Lock Operation
The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door, but the rear integration module (RIM), which is the master control for the door lock system, determines when the lock functions are permitted. The RIM receives and examines the requested lock function from the individual door modules, or from the remote function actuator (RFA) via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM also examines the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. If the RIM determines that a lock or unlock function is permitted, it sends a class 2 message back to the individual door modules commanding them to perform that Lock or Unlock function.

coulb be the control switch on your panel you can take the door panel off and check for loose connections and try to test for continuity. if you dont know how take it to a shop and have them diagnose the electrical. im quite sure it the switch that burnt out

Maybe fuse number 6 is blown (check lefthand side of steerning wheel where all teh fuses are located - you must open the door)

it is probably your door lock has gone into safe mode.you need a new door lock.try using the lock/unlock button on your remote or on the drivers door button and gently tap the door handle with your hand while pressing the lock/unlock button,carefull not to dent your car.if that does not work,try disconnecting the cars battery for a few minutes,but note the vehicle might pick up fault codes which need a diagnostic machine to clear...good luck

2005 accord drivers door lock no longer works electronically. I have to use the key to unlock the door, and physically push down the knob to lock the door. This prevents the remote from unlocking the other...


Sounds to me like perhaps there's an electrical issue going on here. You will probably need to take it to a mechanic or dealer to get fixed. I mean, if both the remote and the buttons fail to lock/unlock, it really sounds like an electrical issue.
Do any of the buttons work on any of the doors? If so, it may just be the driver's door that has a problem.

Doors wont all lock at the same time on my '95 saab 9000cs. i have to manually lock them individually. My dashboard lights flicker, sometimes the lights will stay on and sometimes i have to tap the switch...


When you use your remote or insert your key in the Drivers Front door all the door locks should work at the same time by the door lock motors electrically. If you have to manually unlock the door because it will not lock or unlock by the lock motor, you need a door lock motor. The drivers and passengers front doors can unlocked with the key manually only. The rear doors you have to pull up the latch. 
If NONE of doors unlock electrically with the remote or drivers door lock, intermittently or all the time, you will need a Central Locking Electronic Control Module. Pressing the remote button you will hear the "beep", but no door locks will fire at all. 
If you have a few odd door locks not working intermittently or not at all, you will need a new door lock motor for each door lock that malfunctions. You can hear if the door locks are working electrically. Yes, they are common problem. 
If you can hear the door lock motor working but the door still doesn't unlock you need to take the door panel off and lubricate the door latch assembly and work the lock, loosening it up. This is common as well.
Sometimes a bad door lock motor can blow the central locking fuse. You will notice it because it will take a second or two longer to lock and unlock compared to the others. If the door lock motors seem fine, install a the next step up in amperage fuse. (From 15 AMP to a 20 AMP)

can you use the key its self on the rear door. what i mean is not using the remote but actually using the key?
