there are certain shadows of "bad"
a fuel filter can leak. this will give a high fuel usage, a fine fresh fuel smell and maybe some drop in performance
a fuel filter may jam. this will give bad performance, a stalling engine or the engine will not run at all
a fuel filter can be missing. this is not recommended since fine dirt, wich in allways present in fuel, will jam or damage the injection system.
there isnt much ore i would think of when it comes to a bad fuel filter.
IF YOU REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE LINE FILTER FREQUENTLY BECAUSE YOU'VE CREATED MICRO PARTICALS WICH WILL BUILD UP AND CLOG THE LINE FILTER QUICKLY(SELF EXPERIENCE) TRY REPLACING THE LINE FILTER AGAIN,IF THIS WORKS THEN I WOULD ALWAY'S CARRY A SPARE IN THE VECHICLE INTIL I WENT THROUGH 4 OR 5 OF THEM.HOPE THIS HELP'S
