Is the compressor not starting from the switch? How did you power up the compressor, jumper power to the clutch?

Now you need to find the A/C relay and check it. It's either failed or the fuse could be blown. Have you checked all the fuses? If the A/C relay checks good, go to the switch. Check for power at the relay coil circuit with the switch calling for A/C.

You need to check for 12 volts+ coming to the realy to turn it on from the A/C switch

Hi...
Perform the following basic Checks and Information
1. Check Drive Belts,If belt is intact proceed to the next step.
2. Check for Compressor Clutch Engagement - Turn the air conditioner to the "on" position and set controls to the coldest setting. Start the engine and allow to idle. Then open the hood and inspect the clutch at the front of the compressor, is it turning? "Engaged" if so, the system has enough refrigerant to activate. If the system is low on refrigerant it will not work properly. In this case an air conditioner recharge kit is needed to recharge the system. If the compressor clutch is not turning proceed to next step.
3. Inspect for Refrigerant Leaks
4. Check under dash panel and under hood power distribution center
5. Check Temperature Control Vents - The vents inside your car are controlled by a cable, electrical servo or vacuum servo. If the vent door is not functioning properly it will cause warm air from the heater to exit the vents. To check this start the car and allow the engine idle, next turn the blower motor speed on low, switch the temperature control from warm to cold while your ear is close to the vents. You should hear the door move inside the heater box as it swings from open to close. If not, inspect for a vacuum leak or a shorted motor in the servo, repair the leak or replace the servo motor.
Thanks
Smith

Overcharge refrigerant

The low side will not tell you if the system is overcharged or not. You would need a gauge hooked up to the high side to know that.
It could be a relay, ac clutch, or pressure switch problem.
35 - 45 psi on the low side is normal

I have ingaged my ac clutch i cant get the air cold i have put freon in it but it wont take more that 35 lbs any ideas

I sure hope you don't mean 35 lbs of freon !
When the ac compressor is running, the low side will read 30-45 psi under normal conditions. The high side should be around 250psi.
You need to be able to check both low and high to see if the system is full of freon. It holds around 4 or 5 cans total depending on make and model. Thats about 3 lbs.

Actually a 2000 F-450, did not see a space for that year. 7.3 diesel. A/C issue. When first started up the A/C works fine, gets cold. But if I shut off the air for any reason the compressor will not cycle...

The A/C low side should read between 30 and 35 psi. Refrigerant pressure is indicative of its temperature, and 55 psi on the low side is too high and would only provide 60 degree air at the vents.

2002 for taurus a/c was blowing ice cold then just stopped all of a sudden, i think compresser not engaging jumped the switch fans come on put on new switches and still nothing. anybody help please its hot...

if you let it sit for a few hours will it get cold again? if so you may have a problem with the evaporator icing up. but that is only true if it will get cold after it sets and thaws.that would mean the low pressure switch is stuck closed. if that's is not it please get the pressure readings and post them .we will be better able to help. you should have at least 90 lbs static pressure at 75 degrees out side temp.if the pressure is lower or less than 50lbs. with the engine off .the freon has leaked out.if it took years to leak out just put 1 lbs of freon back in. they now sale freon with the low pressure Gage built on the can .so you will know if the level is low. with the engine running you should see about 25 psi on the low side .it will change as the compressor cycles

My air condition is not blowing cold air

best diagnostic method is dual head gauges. balanced pressure between low and high side in the off position is aroung 90 lbs. running low pressure is 20-40 lbs and high pressure 160-200, is the compressior not coming on? does it stay on, or click on and off. either might mean the freon level is low. try unplugging the low pressure switch on the low side supply line and shorting the pigtail wires together with a paper clip. does the compressor stay on now? if so and the air is warm or cool, freon is low. if the air is cold that switch is bad. if compressor still won't come on the list of possibilities grows longer: compressor, comp fan clutch, AC relay, restriction at several places... repair shop time...

1994 mercedes SL500 air conditioner will blow cold and work fine for a few weeks and then blows hot or NOT cold for 3-5 days & then will work again for no apparent reason. Is this a switch ?

Most likely low freon tripping the relay so as not to hurt the compressor. Ambient temp has alot to do with it. Low side should be pegged on the gage when reading with motor off. While running with full a/c at ilde should be arout 50 psi, at 2000 rpms should be at least35 psi. When outside temp drops it will turn the Klima relay off or when pressure drops while running it can shut off. If the pressures are correct the pressure switch on the drier could be bad.

A/c not blowing cold air

80lbs on the low side is WAY too much if the clutch is running, the high side you should see 125-150ish, the low 30-40. I would feel the lines (the bigger line going into the firewall to see if it is cold when your pressure is right) if so suspect a blend door motor which controls the hot and cold switching inside.

A\c does not blow cold and system is

A 1999 Cherokee with the compressor running can be overcharged or the compresser blown, ( not pumping) Most of the timw if this happens the pump is noisely when running with gauges hooked to the system and the compressor on the low side shold be low and the high side 175 lbs. or more. If it is and the lines coming from the compressor are hot on the highside(small)and coldonthelow ( bigger ) thenan air doormay not be working in the dash. a scanner may help looking thought the body control systems and find something not working correctly.

Ok hear we go agian 2000 ford taurs 3.0 lit no a/c when i jump the compressor with a jumper wire. it works fine and i checked the high side swtich it works fine and the low side works ok to.

There are 3 likely problems:
  1. system could be air locked; when recharged, its possible more air than refrigerant was pumped into the system
  2. clogged or bad expansion valve
  3. AC clutch is bad; although it will engage when you jump it, the clutch could still be bad preventing it from engaging when you turn on the AC
Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

2001 ford explorer sport trac the a/c blows cold then gets warm, then returns to blowing cold...any ideas?

The best thing to do is make sure the freon level is good ,if that ok then ckeck the pressure with a set of a/c gages if the high side pressure are lower than 350psi and the low side is higher than 35psi and the compressor is shuting off the low pressure switch is bad.
