On the rear of the transfer case you will see two large nuts. one slightly higher than the other, both about 1" wrench size (may be slightly larger)
Remove the top one while vehicle is on level ground, and fill from there. Put a pan below it to catch any overflow. Unit is full when fluid begins to run out of the hole. Once finished, your'e a mechanic!!!
Good Luck!!

oops...didn't mention what you need...You need either a socket wrench of the correct size or a box wrench. Your fluid is either a lighter grade of gear oil or automatic transmission fluid. That info should be in owners manual or check with any larger parts store (sometimes they will have a chart or will let you browse through an open haynes or chiltons manual on the shelf) Pretty sure chevy uses atf.

My oil pressure gauge (on the top right of the dashboard) randomly shows the oil pressure going down to zero (check gauge light comes on) and then randomly goes back into the normal range. It happens...

Did you compare what your dash gauge read when it was acting up and compare it to the manual gauge at the same time? I know you said you used the manual gauge and it read fine so if you get a proper reading out of the manual gauge and an improper reading out of the dash gauge then your dash gauge needs addressed.

I was told by jiffy lube tech that i needed to change my final drive fluid and that it is different than my trans fluid can you please clear this up for me

If you have 4 wheel drive, you do have a final drive that uses gear oil, but I'm not sure you need to change it unless you do a lot of towing or mountain driving. If you do not have 4 wheel drive, there is no final drive separate from the transmission. OK?

Hello all, I am new to this forum and I just bought a 1993 C3500 4x4 Diesel w/auto, I was just wondering the proper way of putting the truck into 4 wheel drive. my 1988 jeep I can pull the 4 wheel drive...

Im jealous! Im basically looking for that rig in the Suburban form. I already have a gas one of that year. The 4x4 stuff is the same regardless and yeah you have to stop to put it in four hi or four low. It is simplicity itself. Less to go wrong in the long run. I like it better then my mothers jeep.

What kind of oil do I put into the transfer case? Is that why the computer keeps saying check 4 wheel drive?

no, DO NOT use gear oil. The transfer case uses the same type of automatic transmission fluid that the transmission uses. Is the display saying "service 4x4 switch"? If so it is common and the 4WD indicator light switch is bad and needs replaced. It's only purpose is to tell the driver info center what 4 wheel drive mode the transfer case is in. This switch will not affect the function of the 4 wheel drive. The correct fluid for the transfer case is +4 automatic transmission fluid.

Want to change my transfer case oil and want to know how much oil

Your transfer case is probably an NV241HD and it will take 3.25 qts. I would put in Amsoil, Royal Purple, or Mobil 1, I have used these products and have no problems with them.

Transmission, rear end & transfer case

ROYAL PURPLE IS THE BEST PRODUCT YOU CAN PUT A DIME INTO

now that my shameless behavior and support of my favorite product is over call Phone: 281-354-8600
and they will tell you what fluid you need for each part. I don't recamend using there motor oil just for driving around because its very expensive but if your just changing it out once a year man you cant do any better than this stuff.
here is there web site check it out for yourself

http://www.royalpurple.com/rp-contact-us.html

You will never go back to anything else after you use this product.
