I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. The heater fan only works on the high position. Does the fan unit need to be changed?

My 2005 Vibe did the same thing it was the heater resistor. It is located to on the firewall behind the glove box on the lower left side of the blower assembly. Two 5.5mm screws hold it in place (1/4 inch socket works too). I used a socket attached to a socket swivel to replace mine in under 10 minutes. Heater now works as good as new. I purchase mine online for $30 from rockauto.

Nope, you just need the change the heater resistor pack. This is the part that controls the fan speed and it is fairly common that it burns up and only works on high. Usually the resistor pack is located behind the glove box in the cabin of the vehicule, either in the heater motor assembly or somewhere in a vent duct. The second option is the most common, as most companies prefer putting it in the duct instead of in the moto assembly cause it makes it faster to change, and therefore costs them less man hours to change it if it breaks under warranty.

The switch most likely needs replaced. The switch usually has resistors in it for the different speeds, the parts guy should know. When the switch is in the high position it bypasses the blown resisters to give full voltage to the motor. If it works on high the motor is ok ,find and replace the resistors.

Very seldom is it the switch. If motor runs at any speed it is the resistor

I just fixed this problem. Much research told me it was 90% caused by resistor. Bought $40 at O'Reilley (Pep Boys etc). After removing Glove Box door;take bright light and put on floor shinning up . Look through slot to left side of glove box and you will see it. Four wire Elec connector going to it. Lay across driver side seat. Look through slot and work with righhand. Disconnect wires. Use 5.5 cc socket (Home Depot 1.70) 1/4 " small ratchet works great. Back screw is tricky.Push on firewall as it appears to be some soft fabric and will give you more space. Good luck

Why would the low beam headlights stop working in a 2005 Pontiac Vibe?

They are controlled by the turn signal switch. Replace that.

On my wife's 2008 Pontiac Vibe, the heater fan does not come on. No one remembers it stopping, but when I drove it yesterday, it was not working at all. I have checked any related fuses, and they are...

it could be a bad blower motor resister that controls fan speed depending on what fan setting you have set the dash switch on.it could also be the blower motor itself that needs to be replaced.with the blower on try tapping the motor and see if it tries to start.if it tries or starts to work then the motor will need replacing.

2007 Pontiac Vibe - Fan only works on high. I removed the cabin filter and checked the fan blower. It seemed not to be bound up.

The blower resistor has failed. It is located right next to the fan blower motor. It is located passenger side under dash.Check the pigtails to make sure no wires appear damaged.

On my 2005 Pontiac Vibe the heater fan does not work all the time

If it works some times then it is probably the switch.

Heater fan

not necessarily could be something else try jumping the fan with direct current from battery and see if it runs could be in fan switch or could be a fuse causing the problem if it does not run with direct current from battery then it is the motor.

Only have 1 speed on HVAC fan

the fan relay(resister) that control fan speed is probably burned out. When this occurs it will only blow at high speed because its getting 12volts directly to the fan
