The diesel fuel is not a good lubricant for the pump and plugged the sock inside the tank replace the fuel pump and sock also pull spark plugs and clean I am sure it is running like ******* the diesel coats the plugs so they won't fire without being cleaned. Gas is much thinner than diesel and the gas lubricates the pump once the diesel washed off the bearings in the pump if most likely finished off a pump about to go anyway.17 years is a long time for new pump to last and in 92 they were not putting in the junk they are now in our fuels. If you need more help or want a price on the pump let me know.

What to do when you put diesel in a 2001 toyota corolla

Yes, you must drain the tank. Running with diesel may damage the engine and the catalytic converter. The fuel line and filter should also be cleared of diesel.

This car has a cover over the fuel tank underneath, and the service manual I have shows no drain plug on the bottom of the tank, so it will have to be drained at the top by removing the fuel pump, or by disconnecting the fuel line at the engine and running the pump until it is dry.

You may wish to hand this job to a mechanic. Try a mobile mechanic van that comes to you so the car does not have to be towed.

JUST DRAIN OUT GASOLINE IN FUEL TANK.CHANGE FUEL FILTER AND.FILL UP TANK WITH DIESEL FUEL. ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGH UNTIL ALL GASOLINE LEAVES THE FUEL LINES.

I accidently poured 5 gallon of road desiel in my 06 hybrid. how do i get the diesel out?

Well, the good news is that filling a gasoline engine with diesel is not as bad as using gasoline in a diesel engine. There is likely no permanent damage. The bad news is that you're probably looking at several hundred dollars (perhaaps up to $500) to drain the fuel tank and engine and
flush the fuel lines. If the diesel gummed up the spark plugs and filters, they'd probably need to be replaced, but those are minor costs.
First, you won't be able to easily drain the fuel tank. I don't think
they put drain plugs on the tank as most imports do. The best way to
get the fuel out would be to remove the fuel line, extend it with a
rubber hose or something, and run power to the fuel pump. The best
place to do this would probably be at the fuel filter. The electric
fuel pump will pump enough fuel out of the tank to allow the engine to
start. It would be a good idea to run the tank dry, fill it with
another gallon of gas or so, then use the pump to remove that
gas/diesel mix also. Fill up with gas and you'll be fine.
As to replacing parts, or aving parts destroyed by the diesel, I don't
think that will happen. You might wanrt to change the fuel filter,
but even that wouldn't be mandatory.
Since your car is fuel injected and the fuel runs in a "loop" (the
injectors get fuel pessure from the in tank fuel pump, and the excess
pressure is fed back to the tank) any residual diesel will be flushed
out of the lines almost immediately. Just run the fuel pump with a
bypass without starting the engine, just like you did to drain the
fuel. As it runs it will circulate fuel through the loop and clear
out any diesel in the fuel loop. The engine should then start up
immediately.
One downside you MIGHT experience: the "honeycomb" catalytic
converters used by Jeep and many others are quite sensitive to
clogginbg with carbon, oil deposits, etc. Although in all probability
you haven't done any damage to the cat. conv. this is a good reason to
get as much diesel out as possible before attempting to start it.
If you take it to a shop and they want to drop the tank, etc. I'd
suggest to them using the pump to drain the tank. Like I say, I've
used this method many times with great success. You should be able to
find someone to do this for $100 or so. (Maybe less).

2.4L 2000 Dodge Stratus, no fuel pressure at fuel rail test port, no sound from fuel pump when key turned on. worked fine last night.

Firstly have u filled up with fuel recently ? Take a sample of fuel make sure u havnt put petrol in by accident seen it done hundreds of time or that u havnt run out of fuel . If that's ok then it could be the fuel metering valve in the pump this will cause incorrect fuel pressures most diesels need 250 bar of fuel pressure to start a blocked fuel filter cauld also cause a non start

I went and put unleaded regular gas into my 2005 Volkswagen Jetta drove home and when I went to start car again, it will turn on for about 5-10 seconds and turns itself right back off!! PLEASE HELP!!

Are you sure you did not put diesel in by accident or E-85? The VW will run on regular gas(not recomended) but diesel or E-85 gas is Bad for it. The E-85 can clog up stuff. You will need to drain and flush the fuel system, a new pump might help and all filters as well. Sounds like you got E-85 or Diesel by mistake. If this is helpful, please leave feedback. Thanks, SP

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE FUEL LINES WHERE THE FUEL PRIMING PUMP IS CONNECTED FOR ANY CHAFFING THEY ARE COMMON FOR CHAFFING BESIDE THE FUEL FILTER WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY FUEL IS RETURNING TO FUEL TANK.

I bought some diesel but got gas !

This is NOT good! You can try bleeding the fuel system first. More than likely, air is trapped in the fuel lines, injector, and injector lines. Bleed at the fuel pump, (On the fuel pump to injector pump side), then the injector pump, then each line.

(You have to loosen the fitting to each line to each part, then when the air is bled out, and fuel comes through steadily, close it)

I also suggest an attorney to resolve the problem, as there may be damage. Pistons could have holes in them. Do a compression check.

Usually diesel's have 16:1 ratio compression. Today's gasoline engines have anywhere from 8:1, to 8.5:1, to maybe 9.0:1, (Maybe)

I'm willing to bet though, that you just have air in the system, and it needs to be fully bled out.
There is NO half stepping on this!
You have to start at the source, loosen each fitting, bleed the air out, and continue on down the line.

Car wont start on 206

you must fill the fuel filter housing with diesel to eliminate air pocket. if you don't have diesel, fill it with automatic transmission fluid. it will smoke for a few seconds, but it will run so fuel pump can catch up. don't touch throttle for a few seconds till you know that it is running on diesel and the tranny fluid is all used up.

Mistakinly put 50 litres diesel in my almost empty petrol tank

The first thing i'd tell you is to not run the engine at all before fixing this if possible. Diesel fuel doesn't burn very good in a gasoline engine, if at all... There is not enough compression in a gas engine to get the diesel hot enough to burn, even with a spark plug.

There is a few ways to go about this but the easiest one is to find and disconnect the line coming from the gas tank to the engine, as close to the fuel pump as possible (preferably before the filter) and route it to an empty container, then jump 12V to the fuel pump motor terminals, or jump the fuel pump relay terminals (to get the pump running) and let it pump the diesel fuel out in the container...

As a precaution I'd change the fuel filter after this, fill the tank back up with clean gasoline, and give the car a good run... You can expect the engine to smoke and run bad for a little while, as there will still be a little diesel going through.

As for the cost to get it done, I really couldn't give you a straight answer... They could do it like I said or another way (drop the gas tank...) It's not that hard to do if you do it yourself or find someone you know who can do it or a good "backyard" mechanic, but I'm sure some of the shops out there could write up a nice repair bill for this...

When you say 'biodiesel' do you mean true bio that is a mixed product or a combination of vege oil/diesel or pure vege oil? What is your daily air temp? Pure vege and even some combos with a high percentage of vege will thicken up in your injector pump, lines and injectors. If you're in a cold climate, I suggest moving the vehicle into a garage (preferrably heated) warm the car up as much as possible, using a tarp and heaters if nescessary. (Don't start a fire!) There also is a bolt on top of the water seperator (looks like a spin on oil filter in front of the engine) that you can loosen while you crank the engine until fuel comes out of the bolt hole. This removes any air trapped in the line. Hopefully you filled the H2O seperator with diesel prior to reinstalling it.Don't forget to add regular diesel to the fuel tank to thin out the vege, if that's where you put it. If you think that the mechanical fuel pump is giving up the ghost, I suggest trying an inline fuel pump from an early '90s Chevy diesel. It's electric and can be placed on the firewall near the inline filter, just bypass the mechanical and give it a battery source that is keyed.
