Question about Honda Cars & Trucks
This might be caused by the faulty connection of part of the 'ribbon-cable' at the back of the dashboard display.?
You'll need to remove the display so that you can see the back of the dials & gauges.
Carefully release the ribbon-cable & clean up the contacts with a cotton-bud & white spirit or maybe an old toothbrush.
Then carefully reconnect the ribbon-cable & reassemble the dashboard.
Best of luck.

Is the vehicle wanting to turn over? If not at all, look at the ignition switch, sometimes the contacts wear down and intermittant problems arise, such as not starting or car will die while driving.

it sounds to me that the instrument cluster has gone bad. not for certain because I cannot see it but if you have a mechanic tell you that it is a very strong possibility.

the info of the problem is to broad, what type of smell is it plastic smell wire smell rubbery gassy? theres to many smells a car can generate while driving down a highway to narrow it down to just clutch plate or brake pads
although yes both can make a smell down the highway its more than likely a grease or liquid burning you should check your engine for leaks mainly around the head and tranny and also check your boots and joints it could even be you picked something up off the road and its now stuck on your pipes burning try it all out
