The brake light and abs light came on will not go off reservoir full brake pedal went to the floor a couple of times.

Clutch and brake pedals go to floor


Check your brake fluid. If it is empty you have a leak somewhere. If it is full it sounds like you have a giant air bubble in your brake system. Bleed the brakes and the clutch slave cylinder.

Abs light is and so is brake light


Hi Kathy, I'm guessing that you mean you've replaced the brake master cylinder. It helps to be as specific as possible, so we can help you in a specific way. Make sure that the brake fluid pipes connecting the master cylinder are sealing correctly. There must be no leakage from them at all. Fill the reservoir and keep it filled throughout the whole bleeding procedure by having someone topping up each time the level goes down. Begin the bleeding procedure at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder and move one wheel at a time closer. The procedure is to push the pedal repeatedly to the floor and releasing to come full travel to the top of its movement. Repeat several times and while holding the pedal fully depressed to the floor open and close the bleeding valve on the wheel being bled before beginning the pumping action over. Once all wheels have been bled and you have reached the wheel closest to the master cylinder, if the pressure in the system is insufficient repeat the whole job until brake pedal pressure is normal. Look for signs of leakage on all four wheels in the event there is a leak on a wheel cylinder. The brake warning light should extinguish when the park brake is released and the ABS light when pressure is normal in the system, unless there is another separate fault. Finish up on the bleeding first and let me know how you get on. We'll tackle one job at a time. Regards John

I have a 1992 cadillac sedan deville. The ABS light is on continually and I cannot build pressure up to keep the pedal from going to the floor, though I can pump and have good brakes to stop. At the stop...


first check on every wheel make sure you see no wet . from brake cyclinders leaking. make sure brake fluid is full. when you replaced master cyc. did you bleed that before you hooked lines to it if not do that. abd bleed all brakes again. if still pedal goes down then it is the brake booster its self. hope this helps.

Try re-bleeding ALL wheels starting with furthest away - pass rear, then driv rear, then pass front and driv front. That should get your pedal back. To reset light you need ABS reset tool and it's EXPENSIVE. Have a good competent shop reset it for you. Body shops can reset them also.

What are the proper steps to bleeding your brakes on a 1990 vw golf deisel


For left hand drive vehicles: (If the car does not have ABS system you do not need any diagnostic equipment!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to bleed the ABS block. Follow instructions by scantool equipment for bleeding the ABS block.


1. This bleeding procedure requires two people. Remove the brake system reservoir cap, and fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached.
2. Lift the car, or use a channel for access under vehicle.
3. Put the gearbox in "N" - Neutral position, or in "P" - Parking position for automatic transmission.
4. Start the engine and push the brake pedal firmly for 4 - 5 times to the floor, and maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor.
5. Begin with the rear right wheel. Another person remove the dust cap and loose the brake caliper bleeding screw until the brake pedal goes to the floor. At this moment maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor, engine idling, and tight the brake caliper bleeding screw. Use a plastic hose: one end connected to the brake caliper bleeding screw, and another end inside a recovery bottle for used brake fluid.
6. Repeat steps no.#4 and no.#5 until no air flows through the brake caliper bleeding screw. Tight the brake caliper bleeding screw, and put the dust cap in their place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the time check the brake fluid level in the brake system reservoir, and fill up if necessary!

16. Now the brakes are bleeded. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. Fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached. Put back the brake reservoir cap.
17. Test the car brake system. The brake pedal movement no more than 1/3 of total stroke until the floor, when brake pedal is applied. Maximum admissible is 1/2 of total stroke.

Pedal goes to floor almost. new master cylinber & bled all brakes & master cylinder whuch didnt solve problem. possibly electrical or stuff under master cylinder?


The "pedal goes to floor" is a mechanical problem and it more than likely that there is still air in the system and that the bleeding is not complete. Find level ground and start at the back of the truck with the hand brake off, chock the wheels if needed. Fill the brake fluid reservoir. Loosen the bleed screw on the back brake assembly and have a colleague depress the brake. Tighten and release the brake, NEVER allow the brake pedal to rise when the bleed screw is loose as this will **** air back into the system. Undo the bleed screw about half a turn and again depress the brake, tighten off at bottom of stroke and again release the pedal. Every couple of times top up the brake fluid reservoir. Keep pushing fluid through until about half a pint has been expelled from the bleed screw assembly. Tighten off the bleed screw for good. Go the other rear wheel and repeat the process making sure that the reservoir never runs out of fluid. . Now go to the front and repeat with both wheels. There should come a time that your colleague can report that there is increasing resistance when standing on the brake pedal. If after all this the pedal continues to sink to the floor it sounds like the seal on the master cylinder piston is defective or there is a leak in the brake line.

Had problems with ABS computer light - now cannot get a brake pedal. Bled master cylinder on the bench and then brakes were good until ABS activated during tersting and pedal went to floor after a couple...


If pedal is going all the way down then either there is air in the system which will need bleeding or else you have a faulty master cylinder.It has nothing to do with the computer as it will pick up fault and display only..nothing else does it do here.Hope this helps.Remember that you may need a diagnostic device connected to the car in order to clear the abs light warning.

ABS and Brake light stay on plus pedal is soft after tight turn


sounds like you have low brake fluid pressure and the pressure sensor is turning on warning lights saying there is low pressure and also pedal going to floor indicate this, sounds like master brake cylinder is worn out/broke and needs replace ment

ABS and BRAKE light at the same time


push the pedal and see if it goes to the floor slowly or fast, if so,some thing like this i would lay on the ground in the back and have some one push the pedlal and hold it, look for fluid, like wet spot near the wheels first ( i have seen wheel cylinder go bad but not leak alot at one time so keep that in mind too) and make your way to the front on the driver side inside of the fram.i dont think its the master cylinder but see if you can see a wet spot at the bottom of the master and the booster( i seen masters not leak as will )

leaks will make the ABS lite come on
