Question about 1991 Mazda 626

1 Answer

When I change gears the switch that changes the gears comes loose

The car is a '95 Mazda 62 Automatic, there appears to have been something holding it there, but it must have recently deteriorated or simply fallen off, anyone know what that's called?

In description,When you change gears, a cable kind of thing with a circular hole, pulls a metal lever, changing the gear,
The circular hole comes out of place,
Is there something I can buy to hold it steady?
It's sitting in my driveway,
And by some miracle in Park,
but I still have the E-Brake on for safety.

Please someone get back to me on this ASAP,
I need this car this week.

Yes you need to go to the dealer and ask for a shifter bushing, it is small and clear and about 8 dollars. it takes a little time to get it in but with a little lube and patience it will be back to normal in no time.

I have a 2005 Mazda 2 automatic, with tiptronic. The car refuses to leave park, even after the car has sat idling for 15mins. Foot on brake, hand brake off and it will not budge. Any suggestions? Also,...

the park problem will be a faulty brake sensor or switch that is not energizing the solenoid for the park unit
dropping back a gear indicates problems in wiring and connections , TR or VSS sensors or problem TCM
any or all of these units will leave a code so have the faulty codes read by accredited automatic transmission specialists and have them fixed

My mazda 323 familia automatic transmission is not changing gears.

Use a scanner to confirm whether you might have a fault on the automatic gearbox,or the gear box ecu is not working or the gear box is un serviceable and needs replacement.

Does a mazda 323f 2001 model need gearbox oil change after some milage or is it a sealed unit?

Automatic and standard transmission needs fluid change every 24 months. On automatic transmissions, the gasket needs to be changed as well as the filter. On standard transmission there is a drain plug that can be loosened up, and refilled through the refill hole. Standard transmission use gear oil, while automatic transmission uses automatic transmission fluid.
