Question about 1993 Acura Integra Hatchback

93 integra automatic transmission when its on i cant put in to gear like revers or drive i have to put the keep an unlock the gears why is that???

It's a safety feature called shift interlock control. You need to start the car and depress the brake before you are able to put it into gear.

Hi, I have spent some time researching this, and have come to the following evaluation:
Assuming your Toyota Corolla S is an automatic:

P, R, N, D, these are all letters on your automatic transmission that you're probably familiar with. However, you might rarely, if at all, shift into "L" on the gear shift. So what does this letter stand for? And should you use it?
L stands for low gear. When your car is in drive, or D, the automatic transmission will shift through the gears as your speed increases. When your car is in low, or L, the transmission won't shift. Instead, it remains in a low gear, and less fuel is injected into the engine. This gives you less speed, but what you sacrifice in speed you make up for in engine torque. Basically, using low gear gives the engine more power.
Torque is useful when you're towing something with your automatic. Towing requires more torque, but if you tow in drive it puts more strain on your engine as the transmission cycles through the gears. Keeping it in low gear lets you keep the torque, which makes towing easier, and reduces the stress on your engine. Another reason you might use low gear is for driving up a hill in order to give your engine the power to get up the hill without over-stressing it. Low gear is also useful for driving in snow or on icy roads, because it reduces your speed and gives you more control over the vehicle.

stationary rpm is to low,its normal higher the handgearbox.
too keep motor running it chould be higher so engine stay running,

check the gear linkages on the gearbox and none of the floor to see if something has jammed the mechanism.If not I would suggest that you get somebody to inspect the gearbox.Regards

I have a problem with a 1989 f-250 automatic transmission diesel engine. The problem is when i take off , the transmission will not change gears unless i let off of the excelorator and when i let off the...


This may sound crazy to you. Check the fuse that controls the speedometer, cruise control and interior dome light. My 93 f150 battery was going dead every night. One morning I noticed the dome light inside was still on. I couldn't get it to go off so I pulled the fuse that is under the dash on the driver side. Light went out and so did speedometer. When I drove it later that day it wouldn't shift from low until I let off the gas. Then it would shift around between gears for no apparent reason. It took me a day of two to put 2 and 2 together. When I put the fuse back in, the speedometer started working and it started shifting normally. I finally took the bulb out of the dome light and now all is well.On the 93 f150 the speedometer is electronically linked to the transmission shifting points. You may have other fuses that are linked to your transmission.

Make sure you report the problem to the National Highway Transportation Safety agency (www.nhtsa.gov). Also-research the web and you will find hundred similar complaints and a successful class action lawsuit in California against Honda for 1999-2001 Accord transmissions that showed the same malfunction code. The California settlement required Honda to repair transmissions and extend warranties up to 109,000 miles and 93 months.


These Transmissions are hard to FIX...I found very few rebuilders that can pull it off... They were recalled in 2000 ....sorry but it is no easy fix... the ONLY OTHER CLUNKING could be a problem is : your motor mounts are vacuum assisted meaning if you have a vacuum leak they will not stiffen the mounts correctly.... it sound crazy but look underneath you have small 5/16 vacuum lines near the radiator mount and some have it ont he firewall mount... I drive 99 Ex Accord!!!! rebuilt tranny 2 times !!!! make sure you get a warranty if you do...2000-2400 is a good cost....

What kind of oil do I put into the transfer case? Is that why the computer keeps saying check 4 wheel drive?


no, DO NOT use gear oil. The transfer case uses the same type of automatic transmission fluid that the transmission uses. Is the display saying "service 4x4 switch"? If so it is common and the 4WD indicator light switch is bad and needs replaced. It's only purpose is to tell the driver info center what 4 wheel drive mode the transfer case is in. This switch will not affect the function of the 4 wheel drive. The correct fluid for the transfer case is +4 automatic transmission fluid.

Your reverse gear is the strongest single gear in your transmission it is not a high speed gear ut it s a high torque gear a if your car was heavily loaded or towing a trailer you wold require the higher torque for backing up

940 volvo comes out of overdrive without touching button


IPDusa.com.  If its similar to a 240 (and it most likely is) you can purchase a block off plate for the solenoid so you won't lose 4th gear (actually its OD from torque converter lockup).
