You can check a couple of thing's to determine if it's a wheel/axle bearing. It will require jacking the wheel up. After jacking the wheel up off the ground (Make sure you block front tires) put transmission in neutral and rotate the wheel to listen for noise. Also try to tell if there is any loose play sideways in the wheel. Another telltale sign of a bad bearing is oil on the inside of the wheel and tire(Check for this first ). The seal will have gotten damaged. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Alero loud humming/roaring sound coming from front end.

That's indicative of a wheel bearing, which is why you were told to change that out. However, it's also possible that the carrier bearings in the differential (where the drive axles attach) have gone bad. That happened to me on my 300ZX several years ago, and I had to replace the diff bearings. I would have them checked out somewhere other than a dealer (you'll probably get a better price from an independent shop).

As a sidenote, to be sure it wasn't a wheel bearing, if you hear it quiet down in a turn one way but get louder in a turn the opposite way, it's likely the wheel bearing. If you turn left at speed and it gets louder, then it's the right bearing (since you're loading up that side of the car). If it gets quieter in a right turn, it's the right side (you're unloading that side of the car and not putting as much weight on it, so it doesn't drag as badly). See if you get that symptom just to be sure that the wrong side front wheel bearing wasn't changed.

SOURCE: some speakers not working

TEST THE SPEAKERS USING A 9 VOLT BATTERY, USE A JUMPER TO THE SPEAKER TERMINALS, TOUCH ONE LEAD OF THE 9 VOLT BATTERY TO THE SPEAKER AND QUICKLY REMOVE THE POWER, THE SPEAKER CONE WILL JUMP IF THE SPEAKER IS GOOD, IF IT IS THEN THE RADIO NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THIS IS MOST LIKELY A RADIO ISSUE.

SOURCE: 2001 bmw 325i only blows cold on driver side and hot on passager

hey ic, sounds like your refrigerant is low. if you have a low charge it will usually get you slight cool air on the driver's side. have the system checked and make sure you have a full charge. also, be careful about running it low on charge, the refrigerant has oil in it that keeps the compressor lubricated.

SOURCE: not-too-loud roar sounding

could be a wheel bearing. get the car up where you can spin the wheel, now grab the strut spring with your hand and spin the wheel. you will be able to feel "roughness" on the wheel that has a bad bearing.

SOURCE: makes roaring sound when turning right...stops

coming from the front or back? If back, check your rear end fluid. If front, might be a universal. Bearings tend to hum or grind all the time, not just when turning

How do you repair or repair the accessory power plug in a chervolet 2500hd silverado?

First check the fuse(s) under the hood, fuse box on drivers side, location of fuses on inside of fuse box cover, if fuse is good, then check for power to the fuse (test light) make sure it is connected correctly. If all is good the you will have to replace the plug assembly there is NO repair. Make sure it is a power plug and NOT a cigarette lighter plug.

Rear end makes a roaring souund when driving

Three quick thoughts, check the universal joint by grabbing the drive shaft with the
vehicle in park and check for freeplay at both ends.
(this is the most likely cause).

Then axle bearings. (look for leaking seals, and also any broken/missing brake pad
"nails" or stuck self adjusters or even rust on the drum edge).
.
Third would be the ring and pinion followed (requires draining and pulling cover).
Hope this helps
