Question about Chevrolet V30

1 Answer

1990 Motorhome on a Chevy P30. Heater control vacuum. All the setting work fine except for the Heater. You push the Heat button and you start getting air out the outlets for about 3 seconds then the outlets are shut the air off. The blower is still working. You then select air, vent etc. and you will get hot air from the heater until the vent, air cool it off. Check the vacuum lines no leaks and there is vacuum. The heater hot water valve is manual and works. For what ever reason the heater seems to be working, just one of the door closes the air off once you select heater. The control panel is one lever on top with 7 push button under the lever. Off, Max Air, Air, Vent, Heater, Defrost.

Where is my heater control valve located on my chevy 1500 WT 4.3 2 wheel drive pick up Im not getting any heat unless riding down road when I stop it blows cool untill I start driving again

Chevy vehicles do not heater control valves in the water lines any more...they always rust out and malfunction. What you are probably experiencing is a bad vacuum ball or a vacuum tubing leak in the heater box area under the dash. The control lead that you use to adjust the heater (temp and direction), is vacuum controlled from engine vacuum. Engine vacuum varies under load and at idle, so the manufacturer put vacuum balls under the dash to store vacuum for the controls. When you adjust the heat or direction, vacuum from the balls is diverted to vacuum motors that position the blend doors to pass air thru the heater core or A/C evaporator. Other motors direct their door(s) to position the air to the floor, mid-vents, or to the defroster. A leak in the tubing, ball, or motor can cause the door(s) to retract to default if vacuum drops down as it does at idle. Have the heater box and vacuum system to it checked out.

My 1999 National Surfside Chevrolet P30 Chassis Motorhome, A/C is blowing cold air mixed with hot air from defrost setting, what is the problem?

stuck blend air door or actuator. there is a door between your heater core and evaporator which does just that, blends hot and cool air for temperature control.

I am not getting heat all the time into my 1990 Maxima I flushed the system and replaced the engine themostate. Water flows threw the heater coil. What is next?

There are 2 thing is can think of right off the bat. Is the blower motor working? If your heater core and heater valve are working, is your duct valves working? They open and close using the car vacuum. When you shift your control to heat, you should hear the duct open or close. allowing only heat from the heater core. You may have a bad actuator valve or a leaking vacuum hose. That's all I can think of right now, hope this helps
