Misfire only happens when climbing hills or cruising at high way speeds. I changed out the variable valve timing solenoid and it improved a little but the miss is still there. Am I missing something?
Check your coil packs and plug wires if applicable it could have just the sparkplug boots if so replace them. Chevy's are notorious for them prematurely wearing out from time to time.

replace the plug wires this will fix your secondary ignition breakdown. the egr code is due to a bad dpfe sensor which is for back pressure on egr valve.this will not cause misfire.

my 96 blazer would have random missfires.... sometimes more than one cylinder at a time... there are a few things to try.... 96 vortecs still used distributor caps... but they had such a high intensity spark that they were well noted for frying distributor caps and ignition coils... i would start there... also a few times i had to replace the crankshaft timing sensor.... it could be something as small as a spark plug wire... i would start with the ignition before spending money to check the fuel system

OK, if you have a misfire at a high rate of speed and it is intermittent, I wouldn't worry about it unless it makes the engine lose power or affects gas mileage.
If you want the engine to work perfectly, however, I would find out which cylinder is missing, and correct the problem by replacing coil packs or what not until it doesn't do this anymore.
Also, a bad O2 sensor can cause a 'random' mix that may come and go over time.
