Do you have your owners Manual for the car? If so it should give recommendations in there.

Fuses are labelled in the fuse block. If not, pull each to check or use test lamp to see if current is present on both sides of fuse.

It is time for my 2006 volvo s40 to have its 30,000 mile service. the volvo dealership is going to charge me about $350, whereas express tune and lube will charge me $184. both tell me the basic info...

I think that the best service comes at a dealer, in general, but it's not always necessary to have service performed at the dealer, especially when trying to economize.

I couldn't find online information about the 2006 Volvo S40, so that means that buying the service manual should help to find the information that you require.

Good luck on choosing a service center for maintenance of your vehicle.

I have a 2006 s40 2.4i that needs an alternator and battery. I was told that it will get an updated alternator that also would requier an updated ac suction line. Can I still get a factory alternator...

I need a new alternator as well (2006 S40, 2.4ti, 80K miles) and the lowest quote I'm getting is $875. The dealer wants $950, an independent mechanic I trust quoted $930. You would think they could replace the part without all the extra nonsense -- in most other cars, they probably could. Volvo has made it unnecesarily difficult with the way they've designed this car. This is the first and last Volvo I will ever purchase.

The mechanic who quoted $875 also said he has someone in town who could replace the non-working parts of my current alternator and get it working again for about $575. But I wouldn't have a car for 2 full days.

This is the info that an O2 sensor is telling the computer,This would require checking out the O2 sensor,As far as the spark plug question,What he wants to order is not what the manufacturer suggest for your car.You just paying more for a fancy type racing plug.

What kind of oil should I put into a 2004 volvo s40 with 121K miles?

We use mobil 1 0w40 at the shop. Its thin at start up so it gets to the lifters while cold then its factory viscosity at operating temp. ALWAYS use mobil 1 . Its far better than any other

Spark Plugs

hi there, on this vehicle youll see a cover on top of the valve cover with about two or three screws on top. unscrew them and underneath you see a box type components (square in shape) with wires connected to them (4 to be exact) they might have a screw holding them down as well. unscrew them and gently pull them upward and the spark plugs are down in the hole (5/8 socket and extention to get them out) good luck and appreciate your question.

The whole headlight assembly for the right front light is loose and shaking around on my s40, is there a way to repair it without having to go to the dealership or having to remove anything to fix the...

Old body style or new body style?

New body style...there should be a bar type thing that holds it in place.

Old body style, there are two different styles. One where you can take the headlight out without pulling the bumper cover off, and the other where you need to pull the bumper cover off.

Wiggle the assembly around while looking for any areas where screws seem to be missing.
