I had a similar issue with my 2005 6.0L diesel. It felt like it wanted to go, but just couldn't. changed every filter and also had ford check the EGR and the intake, all checked out. Then I decided to remove my cat and just inspect it....junk all clogged up. So i took it off and put a piece of 3.5" pipe there, now the truck goes unreal!

Code came up to P1251 with engine toyota 1KD - FTV. Engine lacks power while driving while engine light on dash board lights up

I have found those code to be shown in not only over boost conditions (wastegate) but EGR flow as well as Catalyst conditions.

Being that you are lacking power I suggest you check the EGR for being stuck open, or the catalyst for being clogged.

These engines do not like light driving, you should drive them hard from time to time to kep the catalysts clean of debris.

97 2.8 TD put new pump in set timing but now lack power going up hills and towing doesn't feel like the turbo is working right cleaned out the waste gate mechanism full of oil is there any thing I can do...

fit a boost gauge to the manifold to see if the turbo is actually producing boost. Fit temporarily by running the hose from the engine compartment to the cabin where you or a passenger can read the results. Turbos only produce boost under load as they need heat from the fuel to spin the turbine . If you cannot get a boost gauge then take it to a speed shop that has a chassis dyno and have it tested there . This will also test the pump for correct calibration and timing

Have you checked the PCV system?? If its stuck in the closed position then you will lack power and turbo boost. A vehicle needs 3 things to make it run proper; FUEL,FIRE and AIR. Try that and see if it helps.

Turbo / Boost Issues

Sounds like a faulty boost pressure sensor or waste gate. I would check the waste gate first. Sounds like it is opening to soon and letting the boost out, than regaining again.

I have a 2003 f250 6.0 turbo it starts ruff and on highway when i get to 70mph and hit a hill it will slow down no matter how gas i give and if i floor it black smoke come out

these trucks are known for the egr cooler failing but I think you have turbo issues. maybe the wastegate is stuck open and not making any boost. check your boost guage (normal amount of boost?) make sure your vacume lines and wiring is atached with no leaks. Any check engine light?
