It unbolts from the rear of the steering wheel, make sure you disarm the system first if you like living.

SOURCE: 2000 jetta need to remove steering wheel

This is not an easy procedure, especially since you've never done it before. With the wheels in the straight ahead position, look at the back of the steering wheel, you'll see two holes. One at 9 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock. You stick a small flat blade screwdriver in the first hole and you pry on the retaining spring while gently pulling on the airbag until it releases. Repeat on the other side. I'm a professional mechanic and the first time I did it, it took me over a half hour to figure it out. Now I can do it in less than a minute. Might want to take it to the dealer.

SOURCE: Steering wheel removal

first you want to unplug the air bag. you do this buy removing the plastic surround around the steering column, where the ignition is, just below the steering wheel itself, then you have to remove the air bag by removing the bolts from the back of the steering wheel...

then get a steeering wheel removal kit, autozone has a loan a tool program.

put the steering wheel tool on and turn oit with a wrench adn the wheel will pop off...

SOURCE: Cruise control, and radio controls on steering wheel, now air bag

The problem is the coiled ribbon contact under the steering wheel (we call it the clock-spring contact) that connects the stereing wheel controls to the steering column wiring harness, this is a printed circuit that is coiled to allow the wheel to move and still have a psychical contact for the wheel switch's and the airbag, anyway replace that contact coil, u must disarm the airbag to do this repair, follow the factory procedure to do this or serious injury can result if the airbag fires.

SOURCE: 1999 Buick Century headlights don't work properly

Iam an ASE Certified mechanic and i had the same problem with my 99 century and i wasnt able to drive at night. After hours of testing wires we came to the problem. Its the turn signal switch assembly which is tied into the hazard switch on top of the steering column. Its all one piece with a 3 foot long wiring harness attached to it running down the bottom of the steering column and going underneath the dash. The least expensive place i found the part and had it in stock was my local Auto Zone and still the part was $200.00.

P.S. This is a common problem on these GM cars. Mine did the same thing to the tee! The lights will go on and off then they just went off for good and this solved the problem. I guarantee it. If you have any questions please email me i will do all i can to help.

Please, is there a way to remove the air bag from the steering wheel of a 2004 Buick Century Thank you.

Of course there is but you need to know that there are issues from this. One is they are an explosive. IF you don't know what you are doing you could cause serious injury or *****. Two is they can go off with the battery disconnected Three is with the module missing, the check engine light will come on. Four is the issue of getting into a crash and have and not having that safety item present could result in lawsuits, medical limitations on coverage etc. To remove the airbag you need a special set of tools to remove the cover and then you can loosen the screw on the back of the steering wheel and move the module out and disconnect the wiring harness.

How do you change the dimmer/turn signal level in stering colum

most just push into the wiper switch.Disconnect battery negative First wait 3-5 minutes Then on the back side of steering wheel is are the retaining screws that hold the air bag to the steering wheel once removed disconnect wires and place pad side down then remove steering wheel, now you are looking at the air bag cable reel mark it position and remove without turning it. If installed wrong it will break. Remove lock plate then turn signal switch then you can see the handle nub with a small screwdriver pry nub out of wiper switch. and reassemble.

How do you remove the horn button on a 1994 buick century . there are two, one on each side. the left button is partially out, i need to repair it.

Due to your Buick being only the second year of the drivers side air bag in the steering wheel...I recommend you first disconnect one side of the battery...You should find 2 bolt heads...one on each side...on the backside of the steering wheel handles (spokes)...when you remove these...the front trim of the horn assembly should pull forward allowing you to replace or repair one of the buttons...:)

How do I remove the turn signal switch from the steering column on a 2003 Buick Centruy

If there is an air bag in the steering wheel - do not attempt to access the switch. If the air bag deploys, it can kill you. If it deploys and does not hurt or kill you - it will hurt your bank account. They are expensive to replace. Please leave this one to the experts.

How do you get off the steering column of a 85 buick century

You really should use a steering wheel puller some folks hit it with a hammer but that is so not good!!
Wheel pullers are cheap enough a single 1/4" thick plate steel with a 3/8" hole drilled on each end, one hole may be slotted, the length is about 4 " and its about 1 " wide.

You must remove the horn cover to gain access to the steering wheels center nut(approx. 3/4 " hex nut) that locks the wheel onto a splined shaft.
Remove the 3/4 nut and mark the spline shaft to the steering wheel with a light tap of a punch just to identify how the wheel goes back on the spline when you are finished changing out the wheel.
If a vehicle has an air bag attachment in the horn cover you must remove the air bag fuse from the fuse panel before servicing the steering wheel area, it could go off that is a very dangerous accident if the air bag deploys while you are over the top of it working.

Remove the steering wheel or airbag from a 2004 Volvo XC90?

You need a steering wheel puller. You may be able to rent this from your parts house. Disconnect the battery for no less than 1/2 hour before disconnecting the air bag or the air bag could deploy. Place air bag facing up or it could become a projectile if set off.
