Also could be cooling fans. Did you notice if your fans are working when it is hot? Could be bad fan relay which would keep your fans from turning.

Could be a plugged up radiator or a bad water pump.

If you don't have leaks and your not losing coolant, a coolant flow problem maybe the best guess here. You replaced the thermostat, so we know that's not the problem. The water jacket inside the radiator maybe starting to clog up preventing proper flow. Best way to tell if this problem is happening is to check the upper and lower hose. A clogged up radiator would have a stiff upper hose and a soft lower hose while the engine is running.

I need to change my 2000 Nissan quest to

the 3.3 is actually a nissan engine although ford did use it in some of their vans. it would be a major undertaking to go distributorless if its even possible. you'd have to start with a different computer. take out the distributor and plug the hole. and distributorless would have to use cop or coil on plugs. individual coils for each plug bc you'd have no wires so you'd have to have different heads if the heads on your engine take the plugs and wires around the exhaust manifold opposed to down the middle of the valve cover. no to mention several sensors youd have to change. why do you need to change to distributorless?

Thermostat

Normal temps for your car should be around 205-210 degrees.

The thermostat should be located on the bottom radiato hose, where it meets the engine. trace the hose from the bottom of the rad. to where it connects to the motor and you should find the thermostat there. usually on the back side of the engine around the intake manifold
