Question about 2007 Toyota Camry

2007 Toyota Camry CE - Sun Visor (driver's side) won't stay up.

It keeps flapping down. I checked the dealer and it costs $120 each. No one in Sacarmento area sells a used one. Please help to fix it or find me a used one (silver/grey color).
Thank you

I also have a 2008 Camry and am having the exact same problems with the visor. The driver side visor was hanging straight down to the point where I had to pull it off entirely. The dealer said a replacement was going to cost about $109 plus labor. While I was there the service rep told me that they have been having to replace quite a few of the visors on the newer Camrys. I did call toyota customer service to see what they could do to fix it since my vehicle is out of factory warranty already, and their response was that they haven't had enough reports of the issue to do a recall. I say that if you haven't reported this issue already with toyota customer service (not at the dealer) to do so, this way they might actually do a recall!

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry and my driver side window just came down the other day which obstructed my view. I called customer service and asked if they would be doing a recall as it looks like there has been many problems with the mirror. Report the issue. Thanks.

Our 3-year-old Toyota Camry’s sun visor on the driver side was broken. I searched the web and found that’s pretty common for model year 2007 and 2008. Toyota does not recognize it worth a recall. Dealer may charge $90 to $160 to replace a new one as many web posts reported. So I made some effort to fix it on my own. Here is the result:

I have a 2008 camry Se with the visor broken and have an appt. w/ dealer that says it is covered for 3yrs / 36k miles. Until they replace the type of plastic that surrounds the hinge, this will keep on breaking. My visor completely broke out of the hinge just by flipping it down. I think it gets too tight that there is no give when you pull it down and it breaks the plastic frame. I opened the visor and it's cheap soft plastic w/ a little bit of grease-like substance. Maybe the grease meant to loosen the visor melted the plastic. I've had 5 older Toyotas and this is the first time it broke off. The other would just get loose and I would just tighten the screws.

Exact same thing happened to my 2007 camry that is only a couple months out of warranty. I love toyotas, but it seems like Toyota doesn't want to acknowlege this common problem, since it will mean yet another recall for them. Seems like a safety recall to me if you cant see the road.

I believe the Toyota company should recall and repair the driver's side sunvisor. I have never had one to break before.

I have a 2007 model also, and thought that it was because we were too rough with the visor, but mine broke off about a month ago and now it's just sitting in my car. Before it broke off, it was doing the same thing. It was just flapping around and in my face when I had it down. It finally broke off and scared the **** out of me because I was driving when it happened. Could have caused an accident. Very disappointing. I'm definitely reporting this to Toyota. They need to have this taken care of and do a recall. This is a safety issue!!

I have the same issue. I completely ripped it out since it was dangerous to drive. I called Toyota customer service and they didn't consider my request to replace it for FREE. I am getting a new one from the dealer for $125 tax labor cost ($40 may be). It looks like Toyota has started buying cheap China stuff.
I need to buy a minivan now. But I might go for Honda Odyssey than Sienna (looking at their recent historical issues).

I have the same problem for both drivers side and the other side, very poor design. Suppose to be recalled for this problem. It's safety issues.

Sun visor will not stay up. It fall down and obstructs my view of the road. My husband removed it today for safety. The toyota dealer said it would be $130.00 plus labor.

Stay away from dealers they will charge stupid prices, go to a local car garage which isnt dealer specific and they will do it for about $20 including labour at most.

no, the inside wears and doesnt hold the shaft tight, the old cars had adjustment, if there was a way to repair the dealer would of done it instead of wasting all that $ replacing them. good luck.

most likely a defect. call the dealer and see if toyota has issued a recall on the visor and you might have it replaced for free. other than that, there's always the junkyard.
