This is a great car. One of the best ever made. 1991 was the second year for this model and the Japanese were competing to prove that they could make a luxury car as good or better than Mercedes and BMW. Original list price was $39,000 without options and now still you would pay $3,500 to a private party for one in good condition even with high mileage. I have one that has 210,000 miles on it, all original, one-owner (before me) and I absolutely love it. When well cared for you may even get 400,000 miles out of this car.

Hello dodson247...The LS400 is a good vehicle, the 4.0 litre has been proven reliable...Parts don't wear out very often, but those that do wear out are expensive to replace. With 217k on it i would have it checked over by a your local mechanic, that is considered high mileage. Asking price for the vehicle is also a factor...3000-3500 would be top dollar if it's in "good" condition.
Good luck...i hope this helps.

It's alot of miles, but if it's been serviced routinely, or had an overhaul, it may be good for a while longer, but with that many miles it's going to be next to impossible to get any kind of warranty (aftermarket or otherwise). Check the kelly blue book value, and the nada guide value and also do a google search for the model name and "problems" to find out what may go wrong with your possible car....
good luck...

Are there any warning lights on in the dash, may a security warning light? If so you will need to reset the security system, refer to the owners manual or callthe local Lexus dealer for instructions.

My daughter wants to buy a 2000 es300 Lexus with 175,000 miles on it we are not sure if thats to many miles for a lexus, she doesn't want to give them 5,000 dollars for a car with those many miles if its...

5000$ for an 11yr old car with 175,000 miles is a lot of money, even for a lexus, this mileage is where you have to start expecting some fairly major problems, i would say 3500 - 3600$ is a fair price for this car regardless of how nice it looks, if she just must have this car that would be my offer, that way she could put the difference away for unforseen problems, this amount would take car of most major problems, excluding complete engine failure, go online to see what similar models are selling for

How many mile can u tipically get out of a 93 lexus 300 before itsnot worth resale value? i was in the market to buy a lexus but it has 210,000 miles on it. it runs excellent! the purchase price is $2500...

AT 100,000 MOST PEOPLE ARE LEARY TO BUY EVEN A LEXUS, AT 200,000+ THE CAR ISN'T WORTH MUCH, I WOULD OFFER $2000.00 IF THE CAR IS REALLY NICE, BUT STRONGLY SUGGEST U ASK FOR SERVICING RECORDS LIKE OIL CHANGES AND HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED BY A LEXUS DEALER.

I have an 03 Lexus LS430 with 64K miles. Trans is

The weakest link is on the transmission pan gasket.

You have to buy the transmission service kit.

The kit has the pan gasket and the transmission filter.

My cost is only $38........dealer is a lot more.

Use Amsoil Synthetic ATF if possible. It will help increase the service life of the transmission

I have a 1990 Lexus LS 400. What should I have inspected.......

Here is the

edmunds maintenance schedule

for 150,000 miles. I would do that if you have not already done so.

Also check the top of that web page for recalls, early warning reports and technical service bulletins.
