Question about 2005 Dodge Magnum
This is a common failure... if you google it, you'll find out you're not alone. There is a weak link in the shifter of your car (mine is the same). It's a cheesy plastic arm that wears out. Dodge's answer is to replace the entire shifter assembly, but no need! There is someone out there with our answer. For 49.99 you can purchase a billet steel machined replacement. I just bought mine and also, at http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14837&highlight=park+lock is detailed replacement instructions complete with photos! With medium level mechanical skills you should be able to pull this off.
Our shifter is starting to act up, I researched this and bought the parts so I'll be able to change it out before it completely fails... in the mean time, I'm being easy on it....
Good luck on the swap out...
