SOURCE: A604 solenoid pack interchangability

If I remember right the 2000 solenoid pack is slightly different than the '96. I've only seen that happen myself once. I just called my local bone yard and got a solenoid pack from the same year of trans. and did it that way.

SOURCE: 2002 chrysler town and country wont leave limp mode

try getting a new shift solenoid for it. i had the same problem on my 2002 chrysler town and country and my plymouth breeze which is also a dodge product. it is very simple to do and doesnt take all that long. the part will probably run you about 150 to 200 dollars but it should fix your problem.

SOURCE: Hello, have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid SE - 2.7L with 42LE Transmission - just replaced the solenoid pack and OD-UD, LR accumulators-new filter gasket and fluid - now it's giving me OBDII codes P0700 (

It sounds like you have a handle on this but I will ask the dumb question, are you coating the orings with petrolium jelly or trans assembly jelly? As far as the codes go, you might have a bad ECM. That mmany codes all at once seems suspect.

4 cyl. Auto trans. in limp mode. takin the shift solenoid out to re build it i fnd ripped wires. My question may seem should i re connect the first or cont with the shift solenoi

Unfortunately, you should have gotten the diagnostic codes for the transmission before messing with the shift solenoid. Most of those dodge shift issues are caused by input and output speed sensors.

The van is a automation and will not shift pass second gear.

A scanner will show you. Codes will tell you. Or pull them and test them with am Ohm meter. Could be the solenoid pack also. If you transmission leaks. When it gets to low, it will suck air. This will also cause your van to go into limp mode. Start the van and check transmission fluid first. Fill as necessary. Turn it off and disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. This will clear the computer. Drive it. If it stays out of limp mode. Fix the leaks and/or keep it filled. Those sensors run around $20 a piece. The solenoid pack can be around $200+ Don't buy a good used one.

Transmission going into limp mode. Have changed fluid and filter, went 300 miles and back to limp mode. Had a gas cap that wasn't the correct one so I just bought a new one. getting codes po456, 442,...

Change your input/and output speed sensors, check your fluid level in the tranny, test cam sensor. If problem still occurs then check the tranny solenoid pack and replace as needed. It is important to understand that in MOST cases, the plug in connectors to these sensors are worn and the plastic part of the plugs expand when the engine warms up and then the proper connections are lost. MOST of the time a sensor works fine but either the wire OR the connector itself is not working. Always check these connections first as most of the time this is EXACTLY what your problem may be and your repair is free!

  • Incorrect transmission fluid (cost: $50-60) - Most COMMON PROBLEM! (even in 2010)
  • Computer needs retraining (try this as soon as you’ve changed the fluid)
  • Solenoid pack (cost: about $60-$160 plus labor. Might be clogged and fixable.)2ND MOST COMMON PROBLEM
  • Ground strap broken/missing - may be misdiagnosed as needing a new transmission and/or computer.
  • Clogged hydraulic “brain” ($0 to $150)
  • Bad input sensor (common) - “Can be seen on scan tool screen as input rpm —if it’s 0, replace the sensor.”
  • Computer firmware needs upgrade (Chrysler dealer should do this for free but might run up to $200)
  • Incorrect filter used in last fluid change
  • Loose electrical connection
  • Torque converter

2002 Dodge Intrepid transmission not shifting

Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
Good Luck!!
