I had a similar problem where if the lights or door left open for even a few min. truck would not start but otherwise it would start every morning with no proplem. after a lot of fuss it turned out to be the battery even though it read ok when checked

It sounds like a loose wire to the starter, check the wiring going to the starter for any corrosion, breaks and make sure all the bolts and nuts are tight.

My fuel gauge has spun all the way around and is stuck underneath the pin

This is not a solution..I just want to see if you had these symptoms..Mine did the same thing tonight(9-22-10, '98 Olds Cutlass) I went to the gas station..got back in the car to start it, and it sounded like the battery was dead (clicking when turning the ignition) and then all my gauges started moving around very quickly. The gas gauge went all the way around and is also stuck under then pin. I tried to jump it, but no luck. Did this happen to you and did you figure out how to fix it? Thanks.

Check you connections at the battery cables. Clean at the battery if necessary. Check the battery lead at the starter solenoid. If none of that clears it up, change the starter solenoid.

No start and gauges go up and down

I would be checking all of your fuses inside the cab and in the engine bay, check the water in the battery, give the terminals a clean with a steel brush and get your alternator check as it may not be charging the battery good.

1999 infinity won't turn over

four things in the starting system ignition switch, battery , starter or the starter reley. When you tried to jump start it the car would turn over for a sec then make a sound? Your Infinity may have its starter contacts worn out. In this case i normaly will tap on the starter with a hammer while someone is trying to crank it over, kind of shade tree but without a voltometer to gauge starter draw its the next best thing. let me know what happened!!
