You're better off buying a 'crate' motor instead. Rebuilding an engine is seriously complicated, but dropping in a freshly rebuilt one is not that bad. You can also try the local junkyards, they often have complete engines for sale. The nice thing about crate motors is they usually come with a warranty, I doubt a junkyard motor would.

I Have a renualt Modus 1.4 that had an oil leak and I have to rebuild my engine .how would I know if I need to change my oil pump?

if you are rebuilding the engine, it would be best to replace the oil pump. one you have the engine out and have easy access to the pump. It also could be the cause of why you are having to rebuild the engine. the oil pumps are usually not that expensive, but pulling a motor loose to replace an oil pump when you will such easy access to replace it.. just be in your best interest to replace as it is such a vital part of keeping your engine from failing!

How to fix 4.0 with new head and crank?

wow, the most difficult question ever posted on a forum.
how to overhaul and engine.?
go to the public library or any book store.
see the Automotive service shelf.
remove book by same name, from shelf. bingo!
here Ill do that for you , on amazon.

what you do is,
1: take the engine 100% down.
2: you mike all parts, per the FSM, the books tell you how.
3: the parts, that are out of spec get corrected.
cylinder bored.
new pistons, rings.
new bearings.
the head is easy, send it to any machine shop and have it rebuilt.
or exchange it.

i have all 3, and they cover, every possible, idea and way to solve problems.
what you find on tear down, dictates actions,
so guessing before hand is just , whistling in the dark./

Cost to rebuild 2003 overland engine

Cost to rebuild depends largely upon what exactly failed in order to need a rebuild.(which parts failed, what else is worn etc) There are many benefits to a good rebuild, the primary one is that once used, the actual casting has moved around and taken a set, making any machine work more accurate and less likely to change with use.
The drawback is that if there was a bearing or other failure that generated metal debris, unless the block is flushed out completely, that debris will eventually find it's way to a major component and cause another failure. Then, there is the actual quality of the work itself...that depends upon the knowledge and ethics of the rebuilder.
In most cases, you are better off finding a low mile engine from a scrap yard or buying a replacement engine from the factory (called a crate engine) Labor for R&R depends upon prevailing rate in your area.
You have much more to think about besides cost!!!

2000 grand am engine need a manual for the specs of the engine

you really cant rebuild these engines without special knowledge. buy a remanufactued engine or have yours rebuilt by a qualified local machine shop. Can you afford a mistake that would cost you another engine?

Oil light came on put in oil engine now makes a clanking noise Do I need to replace the engine or can you rebuild the current engine; only has 60,000 miles.

You can fit new crankshaft bearings etc but it may be wiser to buy a reconditioned engine as more of the parts that wear out will have been replaced on the rebuild
