Check to see if starter solenoid is good.check to see that you have a good ground to the system,at battery, starter, and alternator, sounds like a short in a wire or a bad ground cable

NO START 1999 CAVALIER

If the click you hear is from the starter solenoid mounted on the starter, it could either be a bad starter or poor connections between battery and starter. Raise the hood and listen closely near the starter for the click, when someone turns the key to crank. If the click is from the starter solenoid, have starter tested or replaced. If click is from a relay under the hood, then the start circuit will have to be further diagnosed.

Chevy tahoe 96 will not start. I have replace the electric fuel pump and that is working. Truck will not turn over.

Hello,

If the engine is not turning over, you most likely have a dead battery, or your starter is bad. If the battery is going dead, you will hear clicking sound and the lights will dim. If you have jumper cables hooked up between the Tahoe and a car that is already running and it still won't start, I would remove the starter and bring it to a place like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts, where they will test it for free.

I hope this helps you!

I have a 1996 Ford Windstar with a 3.8 6 cyl. It

Have you checked the battery terminals too to see if the cables are lose or having alot of acid on the terminals, if so please clean the terminals one at a time by using a wrench to unlose the bolts that hold the cables to the negative first and then to the positive cable but make sure that you do not put the wrench touching both the positive and negative battery terminals or your battery will explode putting acid all over you !!! Another thing is that does your starter ever make a clicking sound when you try to turn it over with key ? When you try to start the car with key that the car starter should make a clicking sound that engages it into the engine so to start it up. If this is not happening then it might be your starter not engaging into engine.

Car has power but will not start connections are tight i get a click and then it goes out but will not start

have your hood on and have someone check to see if your starter is making a clicking sound at all most likely its the starter if its not clicking means its bad and needs to be replaced. I had to do that on my car too when my starter totally stopped working on me. Check this first. when the starter clicks means its ingaging the engine.

check the battery cables themselves. sounds like a bad ground or bad starter.Take it out and have it tested. most Major parts stores will test at no charge. Hope this helps. Please rate my fix as i strive to be the best. Thanks Ray. if you need more help get back to me

96 cavalier clicking sound in the dashboard

Have you changed the fuel filter? Also is there no starter on the car? If not put a starter on it or replace the one that is not there. You may have to clean all cable & starter connections first to see if starter actually works. Good luck!

Ive got a 99 cavalier and i just changed the starter and it just clicks and then i jumped it and it started then i turnd it off and now it clicks again

Sounds like the battery may be in need of replacement. You might try to charge it for a couple of hours, but if it does not take a chrge or hold a charge then replace it and have the charging system checked. You can generaly have advanced auto parts or autozone check your charging system at no charge.

2000 Cavalier won't start, making fast clicking sound w/ ignition

Low voltage will cause the problem you are having, get the battery charged, and then have the alternator checked for the correct out put,13.65 to 14.25 if it is not in this range give or take a couple of volts, replace it,I would have the battery replaced also,so you won`t have the problem again.Have a shop replace the battery,if you do it yourself, the memory could be erased if certain measures are not performed.
