Question about 1996 Dodge Ram
1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L with 93K. Oil dummy guage in the middle (1/2) when driving but at idle drops to a quarter reading (1/4) on guage. Had at 30k miles oil pressure drop to 0 then everything was fine. Took to dealer at that time and pressure was fine. Is it the switch or clogged oil pump screen????
I had the same problem and ended up changing the oil pump and it did not fix it. (Peace of mind anyway and it was cheap) I replaced the pressure sensor (that happens to be tucked in deep between the back of the engine and firewall) and the pressure gauge worked just fine after that.
