My 1994 Ford Econoline Van Windshield Wiper Motor stopped working. Never have found the fuse box but I think the variable delay relay is up under the dash above the passenger's feet.

Where's the windshield wiper motor - inside the engine compartment or inside the dashboard. If it's inside the engine compartment the air cleaner assembly is in the way.

HI. This is a possible motor issue. To confirm, use this procedure. it will help isolate the actual issue at hand.

Step 1

Make sure the battery has a strong charge and is in good condition. Use a voltmeter to get a reading if necessary.

Step 2

Connect a jumper wire between ground and the wiper motor. Turn the key on but don’t start the engine. Turn the wiper switch on. If the motor works, check for a corroded or loose ground connection.

Step 3

Turn on the car key but don’t start the engine. Turn on the wipers. Check for voltage at the wiper motor with your voltmeter. If you get a good voltage reading, turn the key off and disconnect the motor from the wiper linkage.

Step 4

Move the wiper arms by hand. If they are stuck, you have found the problem. If the wiper arms move freely by hand, go to step 5. If voltage is not reaching the motor go to step 6.

Step 5

Remove the wiper motor by disconnecting the plug and removing the bolts using a wrench or ratchet. Use a pair of jumper wires to connect the wiper motor directly to the battery. If the motor does not work, replace it.

Step 6

Turn on the key but don’t start the engine. Get a voltage reading across the wiper switch. If there is voltage, use a jumper wire to bypass the switch, if the motor works now, replace the switch, otherwise go to step 7. If there is no voltage at the switch, go to step 8.

Step 7

Check for continuity at the wire between the switch and the motor. The wire could be loose or disconnected.

Step 8

Check the wire coming from the fuse panel to the wiper switch. It could be disconnected or loose.

The fuse panel is located on a bracket on the driver's side of the
instrument panel or, on some RV models it is located on a bracket
    attached to the brake pedal.

Here is a picture of the location of the fuse box.

    Picture of fuse box location.

  • Anonymous Jul 30, 2009

Yes, its located in the engine compartment, just behind the windshield shroud under the wiper arms. there is some disassembling to be done to actually access it. the air cleaner assembly will need to be removed

Sun roof won't close 2004 Ford Explorer

The roof opening panel is an electronically operated panel that can be opened or closed by the roof opening panel switch. Actuating the switch in either a forward or rearward motion supplies a ground to the roof opening panel motor. The vent and soft-stop functions are controlled by the roof opening panel motor. These positions are obtained when an internal motor cam opens the roof position switch, removing the ground from the switch. The roof opening panel has an express open feature activated when the switch is pressed momentarily. The roof opening panel is closed by continuous activation of the switch until the sunroof stops movement. This function is controlled by the roof opening panel motor.

1994 Ford E350 transmission seems like it slips at 45-55 MPH.

If you went 1k miles since that same issue occurred I would look at the transmission. A faulty torque converter, clogged fuel filter, or a clogged CAT can cause a delay in the shifting but it would happen right away not 1k miles later.

Speedometer, odometer, cruse control & tranny overstopped working

If it has antilock brakes, the sensor is on the top of the rear differential. This sensor usually drives the speedometer. check the sensor for an open in its windings and also the wire that connects to it for any breaks.
