SOURCE: Ignition key won't turn to start; will turn to accessory

Pressure on the side of the tires from the curb caused the steering wheel lock to not release. Wrestling the steering wheel got the tension off the wheel and allowed the key to turn. Problem solved

SOURCE: like others, my key is stuck in the ignition of my

There are a couple things that could cause your stuck key. The first and most common is the steering wheel lock is being forced up against the locking mechanism due to torque from the front wheels being turned to much one way or the other when you stopped and parked it. Think of trying to open a door while it is being pushed on. To fix this you must turn the steering wheel away from the lock while you turn the key.

The other problem, which is more common to your cady is an issue with the shift lock.. There may even be something in your owner's manual called "shift lock release procedure", check page 2-32.

Make sure the button on the shifter isn't stuck. Also try pushing the shift lever forward while turning the key. If this doesn't work you may need to contact Cadillac and ask about the TSB concerning this problem because I know there is one out on it.
Hope this helps.

How do I turn off radio when ignition turned off radio keeps on playing and windows can be turned on to go up or down

Open a door . It's suppose to do that . After 10 min. or open a door is what should shut it off . If not ,stuck RAP relay contacts stuck closed . supplying battery voltage all the time . RAP relay - Retained Accessory Power

Relay Controlled RAP
The BCM keeps the RAP relay energized during all power modes, except Off-Awake and Crank. The relay is also energized for approximately 10 minutes after shutting the ignition OFF and removing the key, providing no door is opened.
Relay controlled RAP will end when one of the following conditions is met:
• The BCM receives an input from any door ajar or open switch indicating the opening of any door after the ignition key is out of the ignition.
Important: If the BCM is receiving any door ajar or open signal from those switches when the ignition key is turned OFF, RAP will not initiate.
• The BCM internal timer for the RAP expires after approximately 10 minutes.
• The BCM detects a decrease in battery capacity below a prescribed limit.
Systems powered by the accessory relay during the retained accessory power (RAP) power mode are as follows:
• Power windows
• Sunroof

Battery drain ElGrand e51 2002

Hi Glen Unable to give you a common fault with the car however voltage drain is normally down to an accessory fitting.
If you are electrically minded ( only do this check if your confident) you could carry out basic checks yourself if not get an auto electrician to check it for you.
Basic check Ignition off , disconnect earth terminal on battery either connect a multimeter (preferred) between the terminal on the negative battery pole and the disconnected lead after about 10 minutes the reading should drop to a minimal amount .( 25 milliamp or below preferred). If reading stays high this is showing your battery drain. Alternatively if you do not have a multimeter a test light would suffice. Connect in the same way. Any accessories fitted before this problem occurred disconnect It's power supply has this made a difference?. If problem still exists start removing fuses one by one refit fuse as you go. has any of these made a difference test light gone out or meter reading dropped? if so you have located the circuit fault is on . What is fitted to that circuit? Methodically work your way through till fault located and repaired. If problem still apparent get an auto electrician to have a look as now it becomes very involved Good luck.

Why do accessories stay on with key off and drain my battery

My first guess is the ignition switch being faulty.
1st unplug the switch module and see if that turns the accessory lights off.
Test the ignition switch (on the switch side):
A. White , White Red wire is 12V constant
B. Blue/Red wire is accessories.
If there is continuity between these two wires when the ignition switch is OFF then replace it. $55.00 for the module.

Add 12 volt outlet switched by ignition

Look in your owners manual for the accessory fuse. That line turns off. Also, consider a 12 volt relay between the seat and your power source. A small toggle switch will work well for a relay.

Add 12 volt outlet switched by ignition

maybe try getting your 12v feed from the radio power, this should be connected to the ignition switch and will run when the key is turned to accessory or the ignition is turned on

Light problems

This means there is a drain on your circuit as soon as the battery is connected. For this problem to be sorted out you need to check the drain current with a series ammeter/multimeter to the battery on the positive terminal. Disconnection of the fuse one by one will confirm the drain circuit when the meter comes to zero value which is no drain current.A trace on the removed circuit will confirm if the radio or any accessories electronic component unit including any remote unit is faulty.

Key locks in the ignition in the ACC position. can't take key out

when you turn key to acc pos that is telling the ignition to go into a accessory mode which runs the radio, wipers etc... but it doesnt allow the ignition circuit to run, and the key in most vehicles will not be able to come out, this is a security protection so that you do not leave accessories on that will drain the battery. The ignition key should only be able to be removed in the OFF position.

Car is completely turned off. (Key is out of ignition) But the accessories still work, the window still rolls down.. Will this drain my battery, what do I do?

this could be a ignition switch issue -- the contacts might not be disengaging when the key is in the off position,, or maybe it is making contact ( as if in the accessory position ). this could drain the battery if there are accessories left on in the car. the celica is known to have many issues with the ignition switch -- if you want it fixed right I would recommend taking the car to a automotive locksmith and have them replace the ignition switch with a new one.
