Question about 1985 Ford F150

1 Answer

I have a Ford F-150 V6 4WD, yesterday while driving the engine just stopped as if the key had been turned off, now I can start it but as soon as I release the key and it goes back to the run position the engine quits, any ideas on what might cause this?

I have already checked the pump, filter and fuses/relays. Is there a possibility that it could be the key switch?

Sputtering engine while in passing gear

At 150000 miles the plugs start to fail under hard acceleration the higher compression blows out the spark before it ignites the fuel. Random cylinder misfire causes the check engine light to come on. change the plugs!

Turn ignition key and motor starts up, next day turn ignition key and motor just turns over and wont start. could it be anti theft problem its a 2002 f150 4 wheel drive with 4.6 liter

This could be caused by either a faulty Crank Shaft Position Sensor or the anti-theft system. Try put key in, turn to ON position for EXACTLY 10 minutes, As SOON as anti-theft light shuts off or stops flashing, then IMMEDIATELY start the engine.

check for water intrusion on left side of dash. just above the fuse panel (or on backside) if this is so..the GEM module may have been damaged...for short term to drive the truck...turn the key to the on position without starting truck...shift into neutral, then start the engine....you can now drive the vehicle until fixed...hope this helps!

sounds like a bad ignition switch, its robbing power from the elctrical system when you are cranking the engine but as soon as you let off it restores power again. sometimes just in time to fire while the engine is still cranking. hope i could help
