This JGC is stalling intermitantly. There is not specific time, speed, or temperature in which this happens. Originally, we had thought months ago that this was the fuel pump and had to replace that four different times with an Airtek to find there had been recalls on those and used a factory pump. Worked great for 4-5 weeks and then started stalling again. The code was read on a stall and said the cellonoid might be wrong, could be the gas cap --- it was an evap issue. Subsequently the line going to the fuel pump was found to be cracked at the connection to the fuel filter and that was repaired. Traveled over a 180 miles on the weekend and started again and has continued. Also if the cables are disconnected from the batter for a period of time it starts running for a period of time. Please help !!1

Although your temperature gauge may show that it works, some models have a second temperature sensor for the engine management system. That second sensor provides info which sets curb idle and timing advance. The "Cold start" feature is a part of this. The hic-cup is something of a bucking symptom as the engine controls toggle between hot and cold run settings repeatedly as water temperature is not stable. In the past, I found several 1984 engines having defective thermostats which are tied into "Step-up" solenoids for the curb idle. What happens is idle speed is suppose to drop when the engine is hot. When someone adjusts the curb idle while the engine is on the "cold setting", the setting(rpm) will be too low once the engine has heated up and the part drops to a hot setting. So to clearly define your problem, you have 2 stemming from the same defects. The "in motion" problem is caused by timing changes based on temperature and the "idle" problem is caused by improper adjustment of the curb idle solenoid because of unstable operating temperature. What you want to do is change your thermostat. This will give you a stable temperature. Then let the engine heat up and you should notice a "click" and the engine should idle down. It may stall. Then turn the idle rpm up until the engine will not stall. The hic-cups should disappear once the operating temp is reached. If you still have problems then look for the water temperature sensors before replacing expensive parts.
I would suggest having the engine temperature sensor and circuit checked, as well as your engine temperature guage. The guage is best checked with the use of a scan tool used by the dealer or a repair facility. If no signs of actual malfunction of the vehicle are present, you may just be throwing money at the car because of a false reading on your temperature guage. Some cooling systems require a specific filling procedure. If not done properly, air will be trapped in the system, causing similar issues to what you are experiencing. That would also cause loss of heat in the cabin, as well as overheating of the engine.
you might want to look at your O2 sensors, they can cause the motor to run lean or rich. also you might have an electrical issue that is tripping your ECM. your electronic control module might be faulty. best solution is to get a trouble code reader and find out what your on board computer has stored. from there you can repair and clear the codes.
First- Codes do not tell you what to fix. You already found that out.
Second-Logically,why would a speed sensor on a trans cause a stall. The speed sensors and there are several.produce outputs on shaft and drum speeds in the trans. Those signals are part of the PCM input strategy for shift points. At low speed,your not shifting,your stalling.
There is no such thing as baffled. Lacks your vehicles system knowledge, maybe!
Do you have a clean fuel filter?
Do you have fuel pressure during the stall?
Do you have fairly new spark plugs?
What does the data for the Throttle Position Sensor,Mass Air Flow Sensor,Egr Valve Etc look like before the stall.
Got vacuum leaks?
Now --you either need to leave the vehicle at a shop,until they repair it
-Find a good tech at another shop that knows your vehicle

Fuel pump,Fuel pump, Fuel pump,,, high mile cars will always out live their fuel pump. The stalls will become more frequent. But first change fuel filter if it has one outside the fuel tank, if it has it in the tank just replace the pump at the same time. Also next time when it stalls bang the bottom of the tank with your hand and try starting.
