Hi,

It sounds as though you may have a problem with your thermostat. It could be frozen in the closed position, not allowing the temperature of the water to be properly regulated. It is quite hard to evaluate an automobiles problems on a web site where we don't have the advantage of being able to see said problem, so it is quite important to include as much information as possible when a question is posted.

Another problem could be that your fan may have a problem. If you are not necessarily mechanically inclined, I would advise taking your vehicle to an authorized repair shop to have these two areas evaluated. Having it diagnosed at a shop that does not normally work on Infiniti's could create more haeadaches than solve.

1987 dodge w150 power ram overheats.could this be air in the coolant lines? I parked the truck because it overheated while driving it.the temp Guage went over 220 -230 by the time I shut it off and kept...

If the unit overheated and there was no coolant flowing into the reserve tank, then there is two possible issues that must be addressed immediately. Either (1) There was not enough coolant in the system. This is because when the coolant heats up it expands and will go to the reserve tank. The fact that there was going to the tank indicates that the system is less than full, or (2) The radiator pressure cap is defective.

I would flush the cooling system, clean the reserve tank, replace the radiator cap, and refill the system and retest.

How to back flush 96 Grand Am coolant system?

Hi Eric, Before you back flush have the pressure radiator cap inspected together with the cooling fan operation. A defect there will result in over heating. To back flush, detach the cabin heater pipes and open the radiator return pipe and adjust the cabin climate control to fully hot. Attach a hose pipe so that water runs opposite to the normal circulation and turn on the flow. Afterwards when refilling remember to open the air bleeder, replace coolant and run water into the system until all air is expelled from the system. Close up and test run. Keep in mind that air in the cooling system will also cause overheating. Regards John

Overheating on ford bantam

there are three probable causes that may result to overheating one inadequate circulation of coolant within the cooling system. The radiator is clogged with dirt some stems are closed.try to flush the radiator using rad flushing fluid. Second improper bleeding of trap air within the cooling system. Third the water pump blades are worn out inadequate circulation of coolant.

You say you changed the fan relay and the thermostat? when was the last time you had the cooling system flushed? you could have a blockage in your cooling system that could be keeping the coolant from circulating..

Looks like a chocalate milkshake in cooling system. no appearance of pollutants in engine oil.

Just drain and flush the coolant system real good then checkit. If you have not flushed the system for a while you may have to do it twice. other wise I think you will be fine after this id done. I hope this helps, Don't forget to rate my answer, thanks.

I have an overheating problem.what could be wrong

Overheating can be casued by a few things.

1)Thermostat
2)Water pump
3)Dirty coolant clogging the pump

A thermostat is the cheapest part to replace, a thermostat opens and closes allowing coolant into the motor as needed to keep it cool, if it gets stuck closed then it doesn't allow any coolant into the motor thus overheating.

A water pump is what pumps your coolant around the system, and if this goes no coolant moves thus overheating. Usually when these go bad they leak coolant and are also noisy when bad.

Lastly could be bad or dirty coolant, a coolant flush can take care of this.

If I were you I would start with the thermostat followed by the coolant flush, both of these can be done in your driveway.

Hope this helps
