Check to see if the coil on cylinder 3 is sending out a spark to do this use a tester. they can be purchased at an auto parts store. they look like a spark plug but the end is open to see if the spark will jump under compression. a normal plug will jump with no compression but sometimes will not jump under compression

Running rich

Hi Justin
you seems that you have a good idea about engines and injection systems, lets say that the computer see's rich exhaust and pulls back fuel mixture. creating misfire. why the engine is misfiring on one cylinder only??
my advice to you
1 search for a vacuum leak corresponding to the misfiring cylinder, like a manifold gasket or injector seal.
2, do a compression test for all cylinders, probably you have a burnet valve.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Check for a dead spark plug. Check for injector pulse. If both good, better put a compression gauge on the cylinder and check for low compression.

No#1 cylinder is missing (sr20de+T p11 primera) high tensions leads are fine, new plugs, new fuel filter, all injectors are still pulsing, fuel pump is working fine no blockages, timing is set to +5* which...

Find out if No. 1 cylinder has compression by doing a cylinder compression test. If compression is good, then swap spark plug and wire with No.2 to see if missing follows. If the missing follows then you know the plug or wire is bad.

If compression is bad, then you know you have a burned valve, a broken ring, a cracked piston, or some other problem.

The engine on my sons 91 Mazda Miata is running ruff. Like on 3 cylinders. If I pull the spark plug wire on the #1 cylinder the engine runs the same. If I pull the spark plug wires on the #2,3, or 4...

You have done a great test but If I assk you to do a swap of the Ist cylinder plug and injector with one from the 3rd , we can come to a conclusion before we can change the full set of plugs and injectors for a good performance.( only if the mileage is time enough to do the change)
If you have confirmed with the spark and the fuel ( hope the fuel pressure is good and the pump calibrated , even though this is not relevant) please also check the wires to the first plug and the fuel line to the first injector.
I hope there is no issues in the pump finally for not releasing enough fuel to the first.( Check for presence of fuel pressure in this line)
I am sure you are confident enough to get to the fault .
Hope you credit me if this helps a bit. Good day

You said compression is good then i would say you may have a bad coil , unless one coil runs all cylinders, but could still be a coil,,next thing i would check would be the injector make sure it gets a pulse if it does then try switching injectors from that cylinder to another cylinder and see if the weak cylinder changes with the injector change, if it does then you have a bad injector,

On a 1998 dodge stratus 2.4 ltr engine misfire

check compression, with engine running remove h/t leads 1 at a time to diagnose weak cylinder, check that cylinder has the same amount of spark ( jumps the same gap as others )try changing the plug from crook cylinder to a good one and note if miss follows that spark plug or stays with same cylinder, can do same with injectors but only perform one procedure at a time so you can determine which one works.

No 2 cylinder not firing ???????????????????????
if that is what you are saying then its something like this------------Either Plug no good/compression down below 100PSI or Valve burnt out/Plug lead broken or shorting/coil pack shorting/ Air leak No 2 cyl/Injector not working on No 2 cyl.,.,.,You can check all the above items and let me know what the correct problem is,, and we can work on it further Ron

The car is running on 5 cylinders.I changed the plugs, put in injector cleaner and even changed the lead on the number 6 plug as that appeared to be the problem plug. What next

Unplug the battery cable. Pull out connectors to the injectors, one at a time and measure the impedance on the injector with a digital multimeter. The reading should not be higher than around 10-12 ohms. If you get a really high reading or indication of open circuit then the injector is burn out. If you get really low reading like 1 ohm vice versa, then injector is shorted out. If you found the burnt injector, and replaced it with a good one the car will run a lot smoother since all cylinders are operating.

Change spark plug wires on 04 kia sedona

REMOVAL OF THE PLUGS:

Do not attempt any maintenance on spark plug if engine is hot.
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Carefully remove high-tension leads.
3. Use compressed air to blow any dirt or debris from around spark plug hole.
4. Check that spark plug fits squarely in spark plug socket and remove spark plug.

Raise a vehicle and install SST(OK552 131 001) in order to replace cylinder 2, 4, 6 spark plug.

INSTALLATION:

1. Install spark plug into cylinder head.

Tightening torque : 18~22lb-ft (25~30N·m, 2.5~3.0kg-m)

2. Reconnect high-tension leads.
3. Reconnect negative battery cable.

Hope this helps and simple to understand. Good luck
