Sounds like it may have also caused some electrical damage or maybe a wire came lose, but you said it doesnt come on consistently. Turn your ad on and see if it runs consistently because we your ac off it want run consistently but it should wwith the ac on and if it does then the problem is either your water pump thermostat or another coolant problem

Truck ran hot after a couple hundred miles. ran cooler at freeway speeds, still hotter than normal ( 240-250) . replaced fan clutch and drove to mexico in july with no problems, but is starting to do it...

Physically look in the radiator under the cap when cool, for coolant level, and check the valve in the cap for sticking. If air is present in the radiator it can't get out, and more coolant can't get in,(from the overflow). Either clean the cap or replace it and check that it is the CORRECT cap.
Radiator fins dirty, clean with a strong stream of water, not high pressure water.
Radiator clogged, try backflushing it, or replace.
Thermostat stuck open or shut, replace it.
Water pump worn out, can no longer move enough coolant, replace it.
Fan shroud broken or missing....
Electric Fan(s) not working, Check the fan, relay, fuse and engine temperature sensor's.
Belt driven fan, belt slipping, fan clutch is bad, fan blades have flattened out.

Air dam under front bumper is gone, loose, or broken. It actually has a purpose other than scraping on the driveway or curbs. It forces air up into and thru the condenser and radiator. If it's loose, airflow can actually push it out of place making it useless or blocking the airflow. Along with that, there may also be a plastic piece attached to the bottom of, and wraps up behind the bumper. If it's loose, airflow can actually push it out of place blocking the airflow. Simply reattach it with 4 or 5 screws.

Also, if the vehicle has A/C and electric fans, one fan is dedicated to the A/C and should come on almost the instant the A/C is turned on. The engine fan will run even with the key off, that is normal. The system is trying to cool itself. Hope this helps.

Hello I have a Hyundai Tiburon 2003 v6gt. My car started overheating when I drove on freeway at 65 mph at 3.5 rpm and also when I'm on acceleration. I brought it to Hyundai dealer then they say my...

You said 65 mph @ 3500 rpm's? The rpm's are too high for that speed. Now, I do not know the drivetrain in a Hyundai, but any GM or Ford will run 65 mph @ 2500 rpm's. Are you sure you are putting the transmission in "D" and not "3"? "D" will be the third click from "P". If you are sure then try this:

Physically look in the radiator under the cap when cool, for coolant level, and check the valve in the cap for sticking. If air is present in the radiator it can't get out, and more coolant can't get in,(from the overflow). Either clean the cap or replace it and check that it is the CORRECT cap.

How do I check to see if the radiator fan is working? How do I check to see if the fan belt is ok? If the fan is not working will it cause the water in the radiator to evaporate or does that only happen...

You can raise the hood and let the car run untill the water temp gets hot and the fan should come on and the temp hand riseing after getting off freeway could be that at faster speeds you have more air going thru the radiator so make shore the radiator dosent have any trash stuck to the front of it . And it is electric fans so their wont be a belt and if you are having to add water often it sounds like you may have a small leak somwhere.Hope this helps.

A/C compressor not engaging

The cooling fans are supposed to come on when the ac is turned on,for some reason ,they did not,and the relief valve most likely let the freon out to keep the compressor from locking up,it will most likely need freon, and most likely the high pressure switch in the ac line will need replacing, this is what tells the fans to come on when the ac is turned on.

What parts are needed for replacing the front end of a 2001 monte carlo? I find bumper covers, reinforcements, energy absorbers, etc. Do I need some or all of these?

It depends on how far in the damage goes. Usually fenders, hood, bumper cover and headlights, but if the damage is deep, you could need a bumper, absorbers, the bumper mounts, even the radiator support assembly, which requires welding.

Pull off the damaged parts and set them aside, and then go to gmpartsdirect.com and click on the catalog link, fill in your make and model and look for the bodyparts you need to replace.

2000 Saturn S-Series undercarriage scraped

About the only thing you could damage as a result of going over a curb resulting in coolant loss would be damage to the bottom of the radiator...This radiator has plastic side tanks which are susceptible to damage...The real damage may be related to any under car crossmembers which may have to be straightend or replaced...Also check for any damage to AC condenser which is located in front of radiator...One simple way to check that is to see if AC is working now provided that it workrd before incident with curb

The cable broke which opens the hood in my 1994 Lexus LS400. What is the best way (least expensive) to replace this cable? Thanks

if it broke with hood open its not going to be hard to replace it.first you go to auto parts place or dealership buy the cable feed it through the floor board to the hood where cable goes. if hood cable broke with hood down its going to be hard to see or get to the hood open mechanism.through the radiator open under neath the front bumper.
