Fuel system may be draining back. When you shut it off and try to re-start immediately will it start? Or after sitting for a while, will it start if you turn the key to the run position and leave it like that for a minute before cranking it over?

When I try to start my 1999 Chevy Tahoe 350 vortec I here the fuel pump run but it only starts and runs while spraying starting fluid?

Your best bet is to get a fuel pressure gauge and see if you have the required pressure at the test port.

My 1999 Chevy Tahoe wont start unless i spray starting fluid into the air intake but once it starts it runs fine, The fuel filter is brand new in it too, if it is the fuel pump how much will it cost me?

It is not a fuel pump problem.
It a cold start valve problem. It didn't open. There are 2 things to check.
1- The cooling thermal sensor is not sending the proper signal to the ECU to turn on the cold start valve.
2- The bad solenoid inside the cold start valve causing it not operational.
Case 1 you can easily replace the thermal sensor.
Case 2 checking this requires professional skill to confirm if there is a signal at the valve during the start.
Good luck

1999 TAHOE JUST STARTED WHEN COLD AND I TRY TO TO START IT BUCKS AND JUMPS JUST LIKE ACRACKED DIST CAP OR JUMPED TIMING.BUT WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE THROTTLE IT JUST SPINS,TURN OFF WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND TRY...

Try pulling the air filter out and see if you can get it to run for 10-15 seconds by spraying starter fluid into the breather. If it runs smooth on the spray then you've got it narrowed down to the fuel system. The fact that waiting makes a difference makes me suspect that's where the problem is. Dirt and rust in your tank can cause these exact symptoms. I see a lot of fouled tanks. Fuel pressure forces the sediment into the filter element, clogging it and choking your engine. Let it sit and the crud settles back to the bottom of the filter, temporarily clearing the element. Change the filter (fuel) and see if it makes a difference. If it does you may still need to clean the tank to keep it from happening again.

1999 chevy tahoe 5.7 wont start in the am without starting fluid but as long as you start it every 1/2 hr or so it starts fine. runs good once started any suggestions?

check fuel pressure. If its marginal then replace the pump. These trucks are touchy on fuel pressure. Just a couple psi low and they do exactly this. In the morning cold is when you need max fuel. Be sure to replace the harness also as these tend to lead to repeated pump failures when faulty, which is pretty common

My 1997 chevy tahoe will not start without starting fluid. I hear the fuel pump running and have changed the fuel pressure regulator already and the fuel filter. The pump is only a year old. Have checked...

IVE HAD PLENTY OF THESE GO OUT EVEN A MONTH LATER. AS FAR AS THE STARTING FLUID JUST TRY AND CYCLE KEY BUT KEEP IT FROM TURNING STATER OVER. TURN ON AND OFF ABOUT 3 TO 5 TIMES IT SHOULD BUILD ENOUGH PRESSURE TO START. TO START MINIMUN PRESS IS 55PSI.
