1995 chev k3500 is missing the bottom transmission cover by the flywheel and converter what part number or who might sell this cover?

Dealership will for sure, just make sure you have your VIN! Otherwise you can try anywhere that sells recycled auto parts!

Drop the transmission oil pan, replace filter, reinstall pan. Remove inspection cover to view torque converter. Turn flywheel over by hand till drain plug in converter is at bottom. Remove plug and drain. Replace plug and fill trans. with new fluid.

What causes your wheels not to spin?


You have lost the flywheel bolts.
The flywheel is mounted on the crank shaft output.
The flywheel is also connected to the Torque converter (in an automatic transmission vehicle). The Flywheel in a 4WD Vehicle is the same as a 2WD - the main difference is the transfer case mounted at the rear of the transmission.
If the rsnfer case is broken/bad it could have the same effect, but you would most likely notice the pieces on the ground, or the broken pieces missing if looking underneath.

To address the flywheel/torque converter bolts - They are most likely still ijn the bell housing. You will find them when you take the transmission access plate off the bottom of the bell housing.

NOTE" They probably won't be in any shape to reinstall, and then they may not be that bad. Sometimes they never get tightened correctly, and eventually work themselves loose - a least likely schenario). Most often the come loose and get sheared off - which ,means no matter how much power you apply or how much you rev the engine in gear - IT JUST WON't GO...

Good news is - almost all the auto parts store sell replacement bolt sets (do not just buy some bolts and nuts with washers at the hardware store - otherwise you will find yourself stranded again real soon).

Trying to take out an automatic transmisson out of a 1998 chevy S-10 got all the bolts and electrial and hoses lose but transmission is still hung up need help


Did you take out the bolts that connect the torque converter to the flywheel? If not, this is what is most likely hanging you up. Unlike a manual transmission where the clutch spins freely, the torque converter is bolted to the flywheel. To access these bolts, look on the bottom side of the bellhousing where the transmission mates to the engine. Tou should find an access hole covered with a black plastic plug. The hole should be roughly 2-3" in size. Remove this cover and manually rotate the flywheel using the accessory drive pulle bolt or have someone bump the key until the bolts are visible. If my memory serves me, there should be 4 bolts. Remove these and the transmission should come free. Just make sure it is properly supported to prevent injury. Hope this helps out. Have a GREAT day!

How do I take a tranmission out of a 2004 Chev Impala(police car)


Hello: First you have to support the engine from the top, you have to raise car, remove sub frame after you remove wheels lines, electrical connectors wheels etc. After removing sub frame remove bolts holding converter to flywheel remove bolts holding transmission to the engine. (NOT A BEGINNERS JOB)

Have a transmission jack to hold the transmission when you take it loose from the engine.

I am puttin a transmittion in my chevy silveraldo 1500. 1995 model. i cant get the bolts to line up. so i leave my fly wheel bolts off or do i tighten them first?


Tighten the flywheel bolts first. Make sure the splined input shaft on the transmission is an exact match to the splines on the torque converter. If the transmission you are installing is from a different model year, they may not match up. If the transmission won't slide up all the way flush with the bellhousing, this could be the problem. If you are having trouble getting the transmission to slide all the way in, then you will need to pull it back and count the number of splines on the transmission shaft and also on the center hole of the torque converter. They must be the same. If they are not, then you will have to get a torque converter that is compatible with the transmission.

I have a 95 k3500 cheverolet with a now carburated 454. I want to replace the 4l80e trans with a th400 is this an easy swap? what modifications will be needed?


the transmission will bolt up fine I think you may need a longer driveshaft as the 4l80 is a longer tranny. measure both transmissions and see for sure other than that should be an easy swap.

1995 Jetta 2.0 Where do I line up the LOWER timing gear and crank gear??


On the transmission side of the engine, you should see a cutout, or maybe a plug ontop of the transmission, you should be able to see the flywheel through this hole, and on the flywheel or torque converter you'll see a -0- or something like a marking that you'll like up in the center if it's a circle cutout, or bottom if it's a square cutout. Other option is put the timing cover back on, and then put the crank pulley back on and line the marks up on there (then remove carefully and mark w/ a white out pen or something, and continue.)
