No spark to the spark plugs an no fuel pressure . Testing is how to find what the problem is . Pull a plug wire off a spark plug or pull a coil off spark plug with coil over plug ignition system . Hook up a spark tester an try to start the vehicle . Is there spark ? Hook up a fuel pressure gauge an check for fuel pressure .
No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy
When you turn the key on does the check engine light come on ? Could have a computer problem . Engine sensor shorted bring down the five volt reference circuit inside the engine computer . Your 2008 vehicle has a number of computers onboard ,all are connected on the serial data network . anyone of these being bad could cause a no start . Your 2008 vehicle is a rolling computer , your best bet mite be to have it towed to a qualified repair shop.

Sounds like the auto shut down relay. Located somewhere in the front grille/bumper area. Relay triggers on impact to shut down all power in order to prevent fires etc. Great idea but can cause exactly the frustration you are having if you don't know it's there!!

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

I have a 98 Saturn SL1 from time to time it would not start, it wouldn't even try. I knew the battery was good. It turned out to be the cranshaft position sensor.

I have same problem with Malibu 2003,use the remote to lock the car2_bing.gif then unlock it and start the car again.if this won't work probably it's the theft alarm stopping the engine from starting

2008 Chevy Malibu LS has crank but won't start

Did it run okay after the starter was changed? There are lots of ideas in the link, but really, you need a mobile auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Communication issues between modules.

How do i reset the security system in a 2008 chevy trailblazer?

This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine. Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely good enough to start the car.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's pinion gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck pinion gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

New Battery and Alternator, won't start

Have the starter pulled and tested for functionality. The contacts may be dirty, damaged, or loose. This can be checked outside of the car.

Problems starting

I own a 1998 Chevy Malibu personally, change the ignition switch I had the identical issue, the switch eventually stopped turning completely, my vehicle had to be towed!! Save yourself a headache, I got one from a junkyard for 2.00, but it had to be programmed for the vehicle, I would take it to a trusted shop or dealer.

2002 chevy malibu won't start

Does the starter make any noise or click when you turn the key to start? If it does not, chk. battery could be bad, and battery cables could be loose or corroded. If there good and clean and battery is good try tapping starter see if it will turn and start if it does or still clicks starter bad. It could be ignition switch if it does nothing at all, but if it clicks most likely its starter.
