There is no spark, the engine turns over completely sounds good. Sometimes the car will hit for a second and then quit, have to start over and wait for a few seconds before it will start.

  • George Ballard Jul 30, 2009

It is not the battery. There is no clicking sound, the engine is turning over it just like it is not getting gas, only sometimes it hits for a second but then quits. I am certain it is not the battery. there is too much turning of the engine for it to be the battery.

The car will not start when I stop for a short period. It turns over fine, it is not the battery. Sometimes it will hit for a second or two but then it quits. After a short period it will start sometimes this happens two or three times before it starts.

He can find it but it in such a place that he will have to remove the master cylinder. I also found out that the fuel pump may be at fault, siezes up. Where is the fuel pump?

If there is no spark at this time, have the alternator, and distributor checked. You can have the alternator tested at an auto parts store. Let me know what you find after checking these out.

Ok, you said above that there wasn't spark in the second comment. I would then check injectors and that the fuel pump is starting up at this time, try pumping the gas a little to see if that helps.

Why can't your mechanic get to the fuel filter?

The fuel pump will be in the gas tank

Hi there,

This can be a problem on your battery. Did you hear or is there any spark coming when you try to turn on the ignition. Better test or check the battery terminals fro any loose or bad contacts and that's why the battery charged is drained.

Hope this initial info helps.

Let me know for further clarification.

    Hello,

When attempting to start a car, all you will probably hear will be a
clicking noise - there won't be enough power to turn the starter.

Here is the simple way to check if the battery is discharged:

    • Turn the
ignition on, with the engine off, turn the windshield wipers on. If
they move way too slow, much slower than usual, the battery is probably
      discharged.

    • Also look at the dashboard lights - if they appear very
dim, the battery is probably discharged.

    • If the battery is relatively new, it can be recharged. All you
need to do is to boost your car and let the engine run for a while to
      charge the battery.

    • However if your battery is more than three -
four years old, you will probably need to buy a new one.
    Sometimes, an
old battery may even die with no apparent reason, even if the day
    before it was OK.

    Let me know here again.

However, if the battery is OK, but the starter still won't crank, there
could be a number of possible reasons. Here are some of them:

    - The ignition switch could be at fault - it's a common problem.

    - The starter motor itself is common to fail.

    - Starter motor control wire could have bad connection.

    - Cars with an automatic transmission have a Neutral Safety Switch that
allows the starter to be operated only when the transmission is in
"Park" or "Neutral" position. When this switch isn't functioning
properly, or for example, when the shifter is not fully engaged in
"Park" or "Neutral" position, the starter also won't crank.

    - Similarly, cars with manual transmission have a switch installed at
the clutch pedal that only allow the car to be started when the clutch
pedal is depressed. The problem with this clutch pedal switch could
also prevent the starter from operating

    - A problem with vehicle's security system or some other electronic
control module (e.g, PCM, BCM) may also prevent the starter from
    operating.

Kindly let me know for any development. You will need a mechanic if you don't know how to check the possible cause I posted here above.

    Thanks

94 honda accord turns off when i come to a stop.

Sounds like the fuel supply pipe inside the fuel tank has hole that's why if the fuel level is about 1/4 and the pipe hole is not completely soak in the fuel, the fuel pump will sucks air instead of fuel and this can cause of lack of power first until the engine shut off but if your problem is sudden shut off without other symptoms like lack of power or engine rough running first before engine shutting off, most probably it was electical problem.
