I had a shifting problem. The car would start in the wrong gear and shift at wrong times. I repaced the governor postion sensor and tranny fluid and the problem has been fixed for several years. Did you replace the tranny fluid?

SOURCE: Transmission Not Going into Overdrive

First check and make sure the fluid is full. The most likely cause is a failed solenoid pack. Circuit codes normally mean something electrical not mechanical has failed. The solenoid pack is on the outside of trans pretty easy to replace.

It's an electrical fault in the transmission's gear switching. A transmission shop will have to diagnose it, following a guideline called a troubleshooting flow chart. It may be a simple fix, even an electrical connection, but they would know where to start and how to get to it. Get an estimate of the repairs and decide what is best.

Error p1784

This code is for the LR pressure switch sens circuit. The switch is part of the TRS/solenoid block inside the transmission. (I presume at least that you have the 5-45RFE transmission with the 4.7L). The problem could be wiring or TCM, but mostly its the pressure switch itself and need a new solenoid assy.

I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler 4 cyl. The CEL came on. Had no power for a little bit. Went to autozone and it pulled code P0870. Any suggestions.

po 870 refers to transmission fluid pressure- check fluid level of trans while parked with engine running and the jeep level.- if level is ok- might be time to have filter and fluid changed

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't shift out of first gear and the fault codes are P0733 and P0734.

P0733=Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio
P0734=Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio,
your transmission is in "limp" mode,
Have the following sensors checked on the transmission,input sensor,output sensor,and speed sensor.
The transmission is not getting a signal from one of them,So it doesn't know how fast your going so it doesn't up shift.
