Question about 1991 Honda Civic

1 Answer

I was driving and my car turned off on the freeway. Idk if it over heated or not. When I was still rolling I tried to start it by putting it in gear and releasing the clutch but it just kept making like a backfire from the tail pipe. When i was stopped i tried to start the engine but it sounded like air was coming out of the intake area. They were burts of air at times. I dont know what it could be please help.

It seems that the fuel pump is not working properly. Either a air lock has occurred at the pump or it the fuel line. Or the fuel pipe has got so muck accumulated at the fuel filter that practically a trickle of fuel is being delivered. Get these equipments checked, especially the filter & the pump................sodeep
PS. Check the quantity of fuel actually present in the tank!

Shut off the vehicle. Place the transfer case indicator into whatever gear you want and then start the vehicle. You placed the transfer case into neutral while the engine was running in gear that's why all the grinding.

have you tried to roll the pickup and put it in first gear because you have to roll the pickup to a certain speed like 10 mph or so and then put it into first gear should start the pickup. If this does not work that you have serious engine problems with that old pickup and might be inside the tramsmission problem. So let me know if this works out

The Water light? you may have over heated the car, also you may have caused a crack in the engine block by driving the car after the Temp light came on, Check the Thermostat, This may have caused the Light to come on and can cause some major problems if not replaced. Good luck!

Rear drive shaft lock up doing 80mph on freeway.

disconnect rear drive shaft to see if tires move if not the rear end pinion gears might have a bad bearing causing the lock up.the fastest way to repair it is to replace gear box with good used one from a salvage yard.the reason I'm telling you this is because although your gear box might be repairable, it would have to be done by a professional and cost would be high.

Knocking noise in 3.8 lit 95 ford taurus

You can not put a liquid where metal is supposed to be. Just a general rule of thumb. The high RPM's had been too much for the engine, and A rod bearing, or rod knocking is about the same thing. Dont try the heavier oil thing, I hate when ppl suggest such stuff. Just replace the bearing, or in most cases and cost efficent, the engine.
