I have a 1991 Isuzu rodeo was running fine changed the water pump an now engine cranks but won't start... Didn't mess with any wires gets fuel... Replaced the coil

which engine you have. of the 6gas and 1 diesel..

lost spark , did you check for spark on all cylinders.
i the distributor base clamp loose?

if no spark the next step is to :
check fuses. did you check fuses first. when and engine dont run.
my guess is you did service with battery connected.
then do the flash codes, cranking for 5 seconds.

ever do the flash test?
code 12 or 31, , bingo... lost ignition refr, sigs.

the magic jumper rules follow.
flash codes.

  1. The diagnostic trouble codes can be read as follows:
    • On models with the 12 cavity ALDL, ground test terminal B. The terminal is most easily grounded by connecting it to terminal A (internal ECM ground). This is the terminal to the right of terminal B on the top row of the ALDL connector.
    • On models with a 3 cavity DLC, connect the two outside terminals (terminals 1 and 2) together.
    • Other models are equipped with white and black diagnostic terminals located under the instrument panel next to the left pick panel. Connect them together.

Engine light on dash is illuminated, what are the possible causes?

Well, your car has what is called an ALDL plug in located under the drivers side of the dash. you will need to have a scan tool plugged into this to scan the cars computer. This will tell you what has registered the fault to turn on your light. Most parts stores will scan your computer, but they are not repair or diagnose qualified. I would suggest finding a good and reliable mechanic to take a look at your car.

No information reading on scan tool when connected to aldl plug on jeep wrangler

Yes. Or one of the circuits back to the computer.
Even tho you have driven 200 miles the drive must include several things including stop-n-go and various speeds to be ready for a test.
You should be able to connect a scanner to the connector and read the current data flow from the sensors even if the system is not ready for a test.

Tengo una gmc la sierra 1500 5.7 vortec ano 1997 le acavo de reparar el motor pero no la puedo poner a tiempo

Clean off the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine and put some paint on the timing marks. Start the car and turn off any accessories such as climate control, lights and the radio. Start the engine until it warms up.

Connect the timing light to the battery and then to the number one ignition wire. Locate the assembly line diagnostic link also called an ALDL and use a jump wire to connect the diagnostic terminal "B" to the ground terminal marked "A". The ALDL is located under the left side of the instrument panel. Not all models of the GMC Sierra have an ALDL.

  • Point the timing light at the crankshaft pulley to verify the need for adjustment. Adjust the timing by loosening the distributor mounting bolts and turning the distributor until the crankshaft timing mark lines up with the middle line of the timing light

  • Tighten the distributor mounting bolts and recheck the timing. Remove the jumper wire from the ALDL with the engine running. Turn the engine off and remove the tachometer and timing light. Reconnect the number one ignition wire.

How to check out the codes on check engine light a 93 chevy suburban.

1988–95 MODELS Listings of the trouble for the various engine control system covered in this manual are located in this section. Remember that a code only points to the faulty circuit NOT necessarily to a faulty component. Loose, damaged or corroded connections may contribute to a fault code on a circuit when the sensor or component is operating properly. Be sure that the components are faulty before replacing them, especially the expensive ones. Fig. 1: ALDL connector — 1988–92 models 84904060.gif
The Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) connector or Data Link Connector (DLC) may be located under the dash and sometimes covered with a plastic cover labeled DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR.
    1. The diagnostic trouble codes can be read by grounding test terminal B. The terminal is most easily grounded by connecting it to terminal A (internal ECM ground). This is the terminal to the right of terminal B on the top row of the ALDL connector.
    2. Once the terminals have been connected, the ignition switch must be moved to the ON position with the engine not running.
    3. The Service Engine Soon or Check Engine light should be flashing. If it isn't, turn the ignition OFF and remove the jumper wire. Turn the ignition ON and confirm that light is now on. If it is not, replace the bulb and try again. If the bulb still will not light, or if it does not flash with the test terminal grounded, the system should be diagnosed by an experienced driveability technician. If the light is OK, proceed as follows.
    4. The code(s) stored in memory may be read through counting the flashes of the dashboard warning lamp. The dash warning lamp should begin to flash Code 12. The code will display as one flash, a pause and two flashes. Code 12 is not a fault code. It is used as a system acknowledgment or handshake code; its presence indicates that the ECM can communicate as requested. Code 12 is used to begin every diagnostic sequence. Some vehicles also use Code 12 after all diagnostic codes have been sent. Fig. 2: ALDL connector — 1993–95 models 84904061.gif

    5. After Code 12 has been transmitted 3 times, the fault codes, if any, will each be transmitted 3 times. The codes are stored and transmitted in numeric order from lowest to highest. NOTE: The order of codes in the memory does not indicate the order of occurrence.
    6. If there are no codes stored, but a driveability or emissions problem is evident, the system should be diagnosed by an experienced driveability technician.
    7. If one or more codes are stored, record them. Refer to the applicable Diagnostic Code chart in this section.
    8. Switch the ignition OFF when finished with code retrieval or scan tool readings. NOTE: After making repairs, clear the trouble codes and operate the vehicle to see if it will reset, indicating further problems.
