I thave the same problem with my civic ek 96 model the tranny work fine when its cold but when it get warm and i put it in P or N and D4 again it will stock in 1st gear I have to wait 3 to 4 hours to get cool and it work fine again. Hope somebody can help me. Thanks Eli
Yes the transmission is serviceable. Let the engine warm up and then check your fluid level. If the fluid is dark, smells burnt, or feels gritty you should change the fluid and filter. Sounds like a clogged filter making first gear slip. Watch your tach and see if it revs high on take off this will show if you are slipping in first gear.
no the safty switch is to stop you starting it up in gear,,and then running yourself over! if you took it off it must be shorted out or the car wont start in any gear
take your s-10 to a reputable trans' shop NOW!!
you have an internal problem,BUT if you'r lucky,it may just be the "range switch"on the side of the trans(hair dryer needed to heat the "goo"-sealer on the harness plug)
the trans' is in "limp(default)mode, just to keep you moving!!
driving it this way for a month WILL destroy the transmission!!
