1. first you need to re-set your computer. Try disconnecting the Negative battery cable for 5 minutes. If that does not reset itself, then you must go to someone with a scanner/engine analyzer & have it reset by them. Then after running it for a little while (few minutes or a few blocks) it needs to be rescanned for new trouble codes in order to see what all you did or did not get fixed to start with.
Note: .... there are LOTS of auto suppliers who will scan it for free if you buy your parts for them and or some of them will loan you the scanner to test it yourself (on their lot-location).

With a defective O2 Bank 1 front sensor you would expect a poor warm engine running operation.

The before catalytic O2 sensor controls the fueling function to the engine. The mixture air/fuel ratio is calculated from the input from this critical sensor.

With a simple scan tool with graphic function the operation of this O2 can be observed, and diagnosed.

Suggest borrow or if car drive-able take to a parts store that will perform a complementary scan of the O2 function.

These are heated sensors and the heated circuit electrical connection could be the problem.. Exhaust leak, blocked catalytic converter, broken wire are all possible causes. By graphing the function and comparing to bank 2 diagnostics are relatively easy.

The reason at cold startup the engine is OK is that until the O2 heats up the engine is running open loop and the O2 is not hot. To be operational the O2 must be hot.

Hope this helps?

I have a 1997 ford contour and the diagnostic tool reads left bank lean i was told that could be the fuel filter also my check engine light is on is this normal when the fuel filter needs changing?

It is not a fuel filter. If the left bank was lean the right would be also since the complete engine is fed from a single line to the injectors. Your O2 sensor is probably throwing the code to set the check engine light. The O2 sensors control the amount of fuel fed to the engine. Most Fords use an upstream and a down stream O2 sensor. From what you are describing I am betting your vehicle has way over 100,000 miles on it. The O2 sensors start going out after this point. They are subject to heat extremes and contamination from burned oil deposits and carbon and or fuel additives that you place into your fuel tank. If the code is reading or giving you a "lean" condition more than likely your upstream O2 sensor has bit the bullet finally.

Check engine light low voltage o2 sensor 04 chevy ventura

your code must be P0131, a P0131 code refers to the first oxygen sensor on Bank 1. P0131 means the O2 oxygen sensor's voltage remained low for longer than 2 minutes. This is interpreted by the ECM as a low voltage condition and sets the MIL. Bank 1 Sensor 1 is located in front of the catalytic converter.
The solution is you can:
1.Replace faulty sensor.
2.Repair short, open, or high resistance on o2 signal circuit. FB.init("dd7d9e9681341cde77587bc6a2029f6f"); OBD-Codes.com on Facebook

Engine wont stay on when started unless you step on the gas, service engine soon " light comes on.Scanned it and you get code po172 system too rich.

Okay, lets start with you checking the fuel preasure regulator, this is a common problem with these the regulator leaks and the vac line connected to it starts sucking gas into the intake, this causing it to run rich and depending on how bad the leak is it will stall engine at idle, remove the vacuum hose from regulator and start engine then see if gas shoots out the vac connection on the regulator, if it does then replace regulator, hope this helps.583ec1c.jpg

I have a 96 k1500 chevy truck and have 4 codes that pop up on the check engine light randomly. Codes are ckp A signal intermitent, cmp out of range, idle contol rpm to high, O2 bank 1 sensor 1 insuficent...

O2 sensor cross talk bank to bank irregular, change 02 sensor(s).

Sounds like Idle air control sensor bad, All of your codes interact, I would start with 02 sensor.

I would locate a Tech II and run a diagnosis, eliminate guess work.

Meaning of po146 code for 1996 chevy blazer check engine light

Code -P0146 - o2 circuit no activity detected,
Bank 1 senor 3
Bank 1 is going to be where number 1 cylinder is at,
It's going to be the very last o2 sensor on the exhaust pipe, check make sure it's connected, if it is more then likely bad sensor.

Engine light was on and engine idles rough.

these O2 sensors are cat convertor check sensors. id be checking cat convertors and hopefully you should try replacing if not all ready is the front bank 2, O2 sensor
if you have scanner can you see fuel trims in data display to confirm high fuel trim only on bank 2 either +-5 or more indicates problem and if bank 2 sensor 2 has fixed high 700mv reading cat no good(warm idling)

Have a 2003 Chevy Impala. Check engine light remains on. Scan showed O2 sensor. Could it be a vaccum leak?

Bank 1 is the rear O2 sensor, but experience says to change both. The front one is right behind the engine in the middle of the engine compartment. The rear O2 sensor is on the top of the exhaust pipe, just behind the catalytic converter. But the same code that shows it is the O2 sensor (which is P0420), is the same code for the catalytic converter, or a vacuum leak. Make sure if you do change the catalytic converter, ensure that the new one is OBD-2 compliant. And the vacuum leak could possibly come from the manifold gasket. Let me know what the problem was!

Check Engine Light - O2 Sensor - bank 1 running lean

you should have three oxygen sensors on your car, one for each bank of three cylinders; should be towards the Y pipe on each exhaust manifold. Additionally you should have one on the exhaust pipe before the cadilitic converter.
