Overheating How do you bleed? i ve removed thermostat, flushed radiator, and engine block....engine still overheats.

Hi my camry 300sei boil the water out but the haetgage seems ok when I open the rediotor cep the water is empy and the car is warm can u please help!!!!


When cold fill the radiator with water and leave the cap off. Make sure that you have all the air out.
Start the car and watch the radiator, you are looking for air bubbles coming out of the radiator. If you have a steady stream of bubbles appearing you have a blown head gasket.

Sensor would just cause a check engine light and radiator caps hardly ever go bad. It's possible you put the thermostat in upside down. Also possible that a hose is clogged. More than likely you have a massive air bubble trapped in the engine block.

Why is my car overheating?


You might have a clogged radiator. If so replace the radiator. I would first replace the thermostat as it might be bad. When they go bad they usually stay stuck in the closed position. When closed there is no flow of water to or from the radiator. You can check the thermostat by removing it, it is located on your upper radiator hose, the return hose. To check it boil a pan of water and and using a pair of pliers hold the thermostat in the hot water. If the thermostat is bad it will not open. Hope this helps.

1988 b2200 is overheating--we've changed out the lower radiator hose, thermostat, and the upper hose is fine. Why is it overheating? Radiator, heat pump, or water pump?


!st check and make sure the water is flowing in the radiator, then check
the timeing, Mazda will run hot if the timeing is rong.

Hello! Can not tell from the question if your loosing coolant...But it sounds like an air bubble behind the thermostat is blocking the flow...Remove the thermostat...Replace housing...Buy a back flushing kit from an auto parts store...Back flush the cooling system...Make sure heat is on high...Replace thermostat and refill with 50/50...start the engine with radiator cap off...Let all the air bubble out, even after thermostat opens...Wait until upper hose gets hot then replace the cap...Top off in the recovery tank...Now, monitor temperature...If all is well back flushing and air bleeding cleared the fault...If engine overheats due to loss of coolant I'll address that next...If coolant is not being lost does the engine actually overheat? ie..bubbling into recovery tank...If not the temperature sending unit is defective...send a comment...Guru...saailer

IF YOU SEE WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAKING COOLANT.RADIATOR AND ENGINE BLOCK NEEDS FLUSHING.A FAULTY EGR VALVE WILL MAKE CAR OVERHEAT.HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED FOR EGR VALVE FAULT CODE MAKE SURE EGR VALVE PIPE NOT STOPPED UP WITH CARBON AND EGR VALVE STILL CONNECTED.

remove coolant.remove thermostat remove bottom radiator hose to water pump.put a empty container under the radiator.take a water hose put it where thermostat goes flush out the rust in block.watch the water as it come out the water pump .if stream water is small keep flushing until you get a study sream of clear water. also flush out radiator. lower water pressure dont flush radiator it with high water pressure you could burst it. make clean the over flow jug .make sure it not stopped up.put in a new thermostat and radiator pressure cap. fill radiator with half antifreeze and half water.bleed the coolant system.

1990 Subaru Liberty Overheats


Hi,

I had the same problem with my 1993 Liberty LX. Remove the thermostat (located inside bottom radiator hose engine connection - take the connection off and thermostat is inside). Reassemble (minus thermostat), reconnect bottom hose. Slowly (very, very slowly) refill the radiator and remove the bleed plug ( located beside the top hose connection to the radiator - a black square plug with a phillips head cross in the middle). When the radiator is full and clear water (no air bubbles) is coming out of the bleed point, replace the bleed plug and then the radiator cap.

Run the engine for five minutes (approx) or until normal engine temperature is reached. Allow the engine to cool down and recheck the water level - fill if necessary ensuring that the bleed plug is open and clear water is coming out of that point. Replace Bleed plug and then radiator cap. Run engine for five minutes (approx) and then test dive. If the engine overheats keep filling the radiator until there are no air bubbles coming from out of the bleed point.

This fixed my overheating problem. Good luck and safe motoring.
