Random misfire 2000 Safari - All the basic were checked. Replaced cap, rotor, wires & plugs. Are Safrais pron to this problem? Mike V

There is an issue with the distributor caps you should only use gm caps aftermarkets have been known to cause issues im bullheaded and tried cheapest 1st after 200 in caps i finally bought a gm part which is ac deco it cured it there is a tsb out on this but i cant recall where to find it alldata maybe

Egr valve for 1997 cheve Blazer code is 0300 misfireing what could be the trouble


usually this code is followed by another number 1-4 or 1-6 or 1-8 depending on how many cylinders your vehicle has ,, what the code you got is a basic P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective computer
  • I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.
    Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck ope

Need some more info on some diagnostic codes that came up on my truck & how to fix them. P0137 o2 sensor, P0300 random multi miss, P0303 cylinder 3, P0306 cylinder 6, P0307 cylinder 7


Replace your O2 Sensor and Spark Plug Wires. If you still have the Random Misfire, replace your Spark Plugs, then Replace your Distributor Cap and Rotor. If you still have the Random Misfire you may have a Timing Problem, or Ignition Coil problem.

Had a random misfire truck would not start have replaced all wires cap rotor not even 6 months ago plugs as well can you help . thanks


The first thing that i would do is check your cap and rotor for corrosion. look on the inside of the cap and see if there is corrosion on the tips where the rotor sends electricity to. check the tip of your rotor button for wear and corrosion on the tip of the rotor. If thats all good make sure wires are not bad by purchasing a spark tester at your local parts store. Its only a few bucks and you hook it on to the spark plug end of the wire and it will spark if the wire is good. If they are good then check and make sure plugs arent fouled out and make sure the gap between the electrode and the tip is correct. About .045 is usually the spec for them. then if that is all good i would consider replacing the coil because if the coil has a short in it, it could possibly cause a random misfire.

My S-10 keeps giving a P0300 dtc. Can't figure out what is setting this code. Usually misfires at idle. Any suggestions?


if u change plug wires ,coils ,plugs and still having problems check the injecter with a pulse light the one that dont pulse the pcm is bad are broke wire if all of them are pulseing then change the injecter.had the same problem on a 2000 s10 2.2

1996 tahoe , codes are showing random misfire


Do an injector balance test and a cylinder leakage test. Lets make sure its not fuel related. Most important lets make sure you don't have a vacuum leak.

If only one of your cylinders was misfiring, you probably would be getting a more specific code than P1399.
Also check the distributor rotor along with the cap and coils and wires (as mrgreenz suggests); the EGR valve to make sure it doesn't leak; your fuel pressure which can cause random misfires if the pressure is too low; and injectors if they are really dirty. If you have really high mileage, I probably would first just change out the plug wires with a new set, then reset the DTC and see if the code comes back.

What is code P0300 on a 2000 Chevy Malibu?


Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.
A P0300 OBD DTC code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why. Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.
